The Weeknd gave us one of arguably the best albums of 2020 with After Hours, and its follow-up is on the way. The Canadian singer discussed his future plans in a recent interview and revealed his next album will be inspired by the turbulent events of 2020.

The Weeknd was one of many artists who were forced to delay their world tours in the face of the global pandemic, but this wasn’t a complete loss. He told TMRW that he’s been more inspired and creative during the pandemic than he might normally be while on the road.

The R&B singer also revealed that his next album will draw inspiration from hectic events of 2020 that “mostly created a sense of gratitude for what I have and closeness with the people near me.”

While chatting with TMRW, he also took the moment to discuss his acclaimed album After Hours and called it “the perfect piece of art for [him] to show [his] tenure in the industry”. This album was released on March 20th to rave reviews and produced hit singles “Heartless”, “Blinding Lights”, “In Your Eyes”, and “Save Your Tears”.
