All h-ll broke loose after the tickets for Taylor Swift’s upcoming Eras Tour went on sale, resulting in one of the biggest ticketing debacles in modern history. Ticketmaster’s failure to handle high demand led to outrage and Swift addressed the debacle, saying it was “excruciating” for her.

Swift announced The Eras Tour earlier this month, and 3.5 million people registered for Ticketmaster’s presale program in the hope they’ll get their hands on the tickets. Many were left empty-handed once tickets officially went on sale on November 15 as Ticketmaster crashed repeatedly due to heavy traffic.

Despite spending hours in the digital queue, many of the singer’s loyal fans didn’t get a chance to buy tickets and called out Ticketmaster for poor customer service. It didn’t take long for Swift to address the controversy and call out Ticketmaster for their failure to meet the high demand after assuring her team repeatedly that they could.

“It goes without saying that I’m extremely protective of my fans… It’s really difficult for me to trust an outside entity with these relationships and loyalties, and excruciating for me to just watch mistakes happen with no recourse,” wrote Swift on Instagram.

Swift thanked fans for their patience and said she’s hoping to provide more opportunities for them “to all get together and sing these songs.” The Eras Tour is set to explore several eras of her career and it will kick off on March 17, 2023, with 52 shows taking place across the U.S.
