After a five-year-long wait, SZA finally dropped her sophomore studio album and she celebrated its release in the best way possible. The album’s drop was accompanied by a moody video for “Nobody Gets Me”, inspired by one of the low points in the singer’s life.

The black and white video was directed by Bradley J. Calder, and it sees the singer roaming around a rooftop in New York and reminiscing about the past. The moody visual perfectly reflects the song’s lyrics, inspired by SZA’s breakup with her ex-fiancé and the arguments that drove them apart.

“When we first broke up it was like terrible, and I just felt like I was gonna be doomed to be in hell for the rest of my life because nobody understood me the way he did, and like nobody motivated me the way he did,” the singer told Hot 97.

“Nobody Gets Me” is one of the songs from SZA’s long-awaited second studio album SOS, a follow-up to her debut LP Ctrl, which came out back in 2017. It hit the shelves on December 9, and its release was preceded by singles “Good Days”, “I Hate U”, and “Shirt”. The first two entered the top ten on the Billboard Hot 100, while “Shirt” peaked at No. 11.
