Fans of Shawn Mendes spent the last couple of months hoping he’ll release new music, and he finally delivered. The Canadian singer returned to the spotlight with his new single “If I Can’t Have You”.
Mendes’ latest track was accompanied with a black and white music video, which takes the singer on an emotional roller-coaster. As the camera twists and turns, we see him moving around a half-empty studio and doing everything from playing the piano to running on a treadmill.
It’s still unclear if this single will be featured on his next studio album, but Mendes is definitely working on something new. He discussed his future record in Apple Music’s Beats 1 with Zane Low and said he’s currently testing out many different styles.
“In the last six months I wrote about 45 songs and they’re all over the place and different vibes. This is the one consistently every time I played for myself and for friends and family was giving people that smile,” explained Shawn Mendes.
