Shakira made quite a splash with her new song “Shakira: Bzrp Music Sessions, Vol. 53”, which became a viral sensation shortly after its release. This catchy tune set several YouTube and Spotify records in its wake, and the Colombian superstar took to Instagram to thank the fans for their support.

“Shakira: Bzrp Music Sessions, Vol. 53” accumulated 50 million views in just 24 hours, scoring the biggest debut for any Latin song in YouTube history. It also became the fastest Latin video to reach 100 million YouTube views 72 hours after its release.

The song did just as great on Spotify, easily topping the Spotify Daily Global 200 chart following its release. With 14.3 million views on its first day, it set the record for the highest debut for a Spanish song in the platform’s history.

Shakira celebrated the song’s success in an emotional post on social media, seemingly confirming that the lyrics are inspired by the fallout of her relationship with the Spanish footballer Gerard Piqué.

“I want to embrace the millions of women who stand up to those who make us feel insignificant. Women who stand up for what they feel and think, and raise their hand when they disagree, while others raise eyebrows. They are my inspiration,” wrote Shakira on Instagram.
