Normani really kept us waiting for the release of her debut studio album, but it seems she’s finally taking steps in the right direction. The former Fifth Harmony singer confirmed her debut studio album Dopamine is coming out this year and shared the cover art with the world.

Normani’s fans have been waiting for the young singer to release her solo album ever since Fifth Harmony split up in 2018. She gave us a glimpse of hope when she released her debut solo single “Motivation” in 2019, but the plans to release the rest of her solo album never materialized… until now.

Normani announced her solo album will be titled Dopamine, and it will be released by RCA later this year. She also shared the album cover, which shows her riding a black rocket ship against a white background.

This visual is quite a departure from the aesthetic she embraced in the music video for “Motivation”, but she previously told W Magazine this single won’t be representative of the whole album.

“I’m not always as bubblegum as ‘Motivation’ was, or as bubblegum as how people have perceived me to be from looking at that music video. So just imagine the flip side of that. It’s still going to be palatable for a wide audience. Nobody is going to feel left out,” said Normani at the time.
