Mitski’s latest studio album hit the shelves last year, and its follow-up is just around the corner! The indie rock singer announced the release of her seventh studio album The Land is Inhospitable and So Are We and revealed its first single is coming our way this week.

Mitski shared the amazing news in a newsletter with a voice memo sent to her fans, where she can be heard saying, “Hi, this is Mitski, and I’m at Bomb Shelter Studios in Nashville, where we recorded my new album that’s coming out. It’s called The Land Is Inhospitable And So Are We, and its first single is coming out on Wednesday.”

Mitski is yet to share other crucial information about this record, including its release date and tracklisting. The Land Is Inhospitable will serve as a follow-up to her acclaimed sixth studio album Laurel Hell, which came out last February and produced singles “Working for the Knife” and “The Only Heartbreaker”.

Laurel Hell made it to many lists of the best albums of 2022, but it wasn’t her only successful project last year. Mitski also recorded the song “This Is Life” alongside Son Lux and David Byrne for the Academy Award-winning film Everything Everywhere All At Once and received an Oscar nod for the best original song.
