Being stuck inside a birdcage doesn’t sound like a great experience, but Miranda Lambert just made it seem pretty fun in the visually stunning music video for her new single “Bluebird.”
The Trey Fanjoy-directed clip shows the singer performing the song from a giant birdcage, wearing a bedazzled feathered gown. She stays there until the very end of the video, with spectators watching on, before finally walking away and setting herself free.
The country superstar said that “Bluebird” is unlike any song she’s written before, and admitted that writing it made her see these birds in a whole new light and pay closer attention to the world around her.
“Now, seeing a bluebird sitting on a branch means so much more to me. I see a little piece of hope there, sitting with wings, and it’s a reminder. I think this is one of those songs where every person takes what they need to from it,” explained Lambert in a statement.
