It’s been three years since Megadeth dropped their last studio album, and it seems we’ll have to wait for at least one more. The band’s bassist, David Ellefson recently discussed their new record and admitted it’s highly unlikely it will drop in 2019.

Ellefson discussed band’s future in a recent interview with Detroit’s WRIF station and said he’s hoping they’ll soon get more time to work on new material and drop their next record sometime next year.

“As much as we were hoping to have a record out this year… Sometime probably early 2020 is my thought that that’s probably when the record will be ready to come out,” explained Ellefson.

Band’s frontman Dave Mustaine previously revealed he has eight songs written for the new album, so there’s still a chance they might surprise us and roll out their new record earlier than expected. Megadeth’s last album Dystopia came out in 2016 and earned them their first Grammy win for best metal performance.
