Stranger Things actress Maya Hawke has been experimenting with music for quite some time, and her third studio album is on the way! She announced the release of her next LP Chaos Angel and gave us a taste of her new sound with the first single “Missing Out”.
Chaos Angel has been described as a deeply beautiful, meditative journey about falling in love, messing things up, and getting back on your feet. Hawke wanted to explore a more mature side of her songwriting on this LP, which will be released on May 31 via Mom+Pop and feature ten brand-new tracks.
The first single “Missing Out” was inspired by the real-life conversation that Hawke had with her brother and his friends at Brown about their dreams for the future, when one of the girls said she wishes to write the next great American novel.
“It was the moment where I felt older than everyone because I laughed so hard… Don’t wish to write the next great American novel, that’s a nightmare! It made me feel I actually am a different place in my life than these people I was around. It totally inspired this whole song,” said Hawke in a statement.
