Lorde’s latest album Solar Power marked a shift in her musical journey and allowed her to explore new genres and themes, but she’s getting ready to go back to her roots. The Australian singer said she’s getting nearer to writing pop bangers again during a recent performance in London.

Lorde is currently busy promoting her latest studio album with the Solar Power Tour across North and South America, Europe, and Australia. She discussed her plans for the future during a recent performance at London’s Roundhouse and revealed she’s getting nearer to writing bright pop songs that everyone can dance to.

“You don’t always have the banger in you. We’ve had a really difficult, painful, lonely few years and artists take that, and they process it and they make something that’s maybe quieter, or more private. But the banger will always be on the horizon,” said Lorde according to NME.

The Australian singer also used this concert to celebrate the ninth anniversary of her breakout single “Royals”. She recalled sitting in her school uniform while uploading it to Soundcloud and admitted she never thought that a pop song would change her life.

Lorde’s third studio album Solar Power came out in August last year and peaked at No. 5 on the Billboard 200 chart.
