Fans lost it after Lizzo declared “I QUIT” in a recent viral statement on social media, but it turns out she’s here to stay. The Grammy-winning singer put the rumors about her potential retirement to rest, clarifying that she’s only quitting “negative energy”, and not music itself.

Lizzo recently took to social media to tell her followers that she’s “tired of putting up with being dragged by everyone” and constantly fighting “against lies being told about [her] for clout and views.” She wrapped up the statement by writing, “I didn’t sign up for this – I QUIT,” sparking rumors that her career on the music scene is over.

After stories about her potential retirement made the headlines, Lizzo was quick to clear the air. She shared the video explaining that she’s quitting “giving any negative energy attention”, but she’s planning to keep making music.

“What I’m not gonna quit, is the joy of my life, which is making music, which is connecting the people, ’cause I know I’m not alone… With that being said, I’m going to keep moving forward, I’m gonna keep being me” said Lizzo.

Lizzo’s last album Special came out in 2022, and produced the chart-topping single “About Damn Time”. She hasn’t released any new singles since “Pink” from Barbie: The Album.
