Back in 1991, Kate Bush released a cover of Elton John’s “Rocket Man,” as part of tribute album Two Rooms: Celebrating the Songs of Elton John & Bernie Taupin. Bush’s reggae-themed cover ended up being a big success and is now considered one of the best covers of this iconic track. As it turns out, there is a music video that follows the song.

Bush recently announced a compilation The Other Side, which contains four discs of her rarities, and as part of the announcement, shared a long-lost music video for “Rocket Man” which she also directed. Check it out below.

“I remember buying this when it came out as a single by Elton John,” Bush said of “Rocket Man” in a statement posted on her website. “I couldn’t stop playing it – I loved it so much. Most artists in the mid seventies played guitar but Elton played piano and I dreamed of being able to play like him.”

“I wanted to make it different from the original and thought it could be fun to turn it into a reggae version. It meant a great deal to me that they chose it to be the first single release from the album,” she added. “That meant I also had the chance to direct the video which I loved doing – making it a performance video, shot on black and white film, featuring all the musicians and… the Moon!”

Besides “Rocket Man,” The Other Side will feature several other covers by Kate Bush including George and Ira Gershwin’s “The Man I Love,” and another Elton John cover “Candle In The Win, alongside an early demo of her hit song “Humming.” The compilation is set for release on March 8th.
