Jorja Smith has treated us with an impressive cover for a soul/hip-hop classic once again. This time the British pop star decided to take on Roberta Flack/Fugees’ “Killing Me Softly.” Smith delivered her own version of the song during Like a Version session she had in Australia last week.

You can hear Smith singing “Killing Me Softly” below.

“Killing Me Softly” was written by Charles Fox and Norman Gimbel, with Lori Lieberman recording it in 1971. Roberta Flack re-recorded the song two years later, managing to top the charts in United States and Canada with her version, while also winning Grammy Awards for Record of the Year and Best Pop Vocal Performance, Female. The track became even more popular when Fugees covered Flack’s version for their 1996’s album The Score.

Besides “Killing Me Softly”, Jorja Smith also delivered a live rendition of her hit single “The One” during Like a Version session. Check it out below.

Smith released her debut album Lost & Found in June 2018, which ended up receiving critical acclaim and peaking at No.3 on UK Charts. It also entered the US Billboard 200 charts, reaching No.41. The record includes hit singles “Blue Lights,” “The One,” and “February 3rd.”
