John Legend Faces Harsh Reality in Music Video for “Preach”

John Legend is one of the most outspoken recording artists working today, and music video for his new single “Preach” is his latest attempt to encouraging people to take action against injustice and transform the world into a better place.

The video opens with the EGOT winner singer lying awake in bed beside wife Chrissy Teigen, before walking through a mysterious white door. The path he takes forces him to take a harrowing look at several important social issues.

“The idea behind the song is that sometimes we can get so frustrated by the news and what’s going on and there’s this scatter going on in ourselves. Do we become apathetic? Do we become engaged? Do we just talk about it, or do we do something?” explained Legend in a statement.

In addition to sending powerful message through his art, the ten-time Grammy singer decided to take real action with his latest single. It’s the first video to employ YouTube’s new fundraising feature, allowing fans to donate money to nonprofit organization FreeAmerica.

John Legend launched this charity in hope it will help amplify the voices of individuals impacted by the criminal justice system and those who are working to change it. Goal of this campaign is to to raise $50,000 in the next year.
