Country star Hunter Hayes finally made a comeback after almost four years with his fourth studio album Wild Blue. This record was a long time coming, and it’s extremely close to his heart – and so is the title he picked for this highly-anticipated LP.

Hayes discussed everything that went into the making of this album in a recent interview with Billboard and explained why he settled for the title Wild Blue.

“I remember vividly when I was a kid picking up somebody to go to the airport and they said, ‘Off we go to the wild blue yonder.’ For some reason, it’s always stuck in my head. I’m obsessed with aviation [and] with flying,” said Hunter Hayes, and added it also reminds him of all the flying dreams his friends had while going through a massive life change.

Making this album was a profound experience for the young singer, and he wants it to be a part of a bigger picture. He’s considering making it a part of a double or triple album because there’s more story left to tell, but he’s still figuring out how to tell it.
