Although Chromatics are still to release their long-anticipated album Dear Tommy, American indie rockers still treat us with new material from time to time. After sharing a new single “Time Rider” earlier in 2019, the group now released an intriguing cover of Hole’s 1998 song “Petals.”

Chromatics rendition of the track is featured on the soundtrack of Netflix’s new movie The Perfection and features the band’s characteristic melancholic sound. Hear it below.

Written by Courtney Love, Eric Erlandson, and Billy Corgan, “Petals” was the closing track of Hole’s third studio album Celebrity Ski. Commercially, the record ended up being the band’s most successful release to date, while the track is one of the fan favorites.

Chromatics are currently on tour across North America, which marks their first series of live shows in five years. The band released a series of singles last year and announced that Dear Tommy, their fifth studio album, will come in the fall of 2018. Since then, however, the band remained quiet about the record and there is no indication when it might be released.

The group’s last studio effort came in 2012 when they released Kill for Love. The album received positive reviews from the critics and found its place on several “Best Albums of the Year” lists.
