Halle Bailey has mostly been focusing on her acting career in recent years, but she’s ready to go back to making music. The younger half of the R&B duo Chloe x Halle revealed that she’s working on her debut solo EP and said it will definitely be released by the end of the year.

Bailey recently sat down with Cosmopolitan for an in-depth interview, where she discussed everything from her roles in The Little Mermaid and The Color Purple to her career as a solo artist. She previously found success as a member of the Grammy-nominated duo Chloe x Halle alongside her sister Chloe Bailey, but she’s finally ready to fly solo.

Halle’s debut solo single “Angel” came out earlier this summer, but that’s just the beginning. The 23-year-old singer told Cosmopolitan that she’s planning to share her first solo EP by the end of 2023, which will chronicle “a really beautiful transformative time” of her life.

“I have all this new material to write about. I was very creatively inspired, and then from there, I fell in love. And so I really just played with those themes in my music. Sound-wise, it’s a little modern R&B-ish, with all the jazz elements and hints of pop that I love,” she explained.
