Hailee Steinfeld found a way to mix her passion for acting and music in the best way possible – by recording a powerful song, “Afterlife,” set to be featured on the soundtrack of her upcoming Apple TV+ show Dickinson.

The music video for her latest track is a true visual feast, which isn’t that surprising since it was directed by Hannah Lux Davis. This terrifying video shows Steinfeld rocking a series of different outfits, including an impossibly tight corset dress, meant to represent the oppression that Emily Dickinson faced in her time.

The Oscar-nominated actress is set to play the famous poet in a highly-anticipated Apple TV+ series, which is coming our way on November 1st. While discussing this project on Apple Music’s Beats 1 with Zane Lowe, she explained how “Afterlife” connects with the theme of this show.

“This record has themes reflective of Emily Dickinson’s There’s a line in the song that says ‘immortality is bliss’ and it reminded me a lot of Emily Dickinson’s poems. Her writing continues to be remembered and relevant to this day, making her immortal,” Steinfeld said.
