Many recording artists are using music documentaries to promote their new material, and Ed Sheeran is the next one in line. The British singer just announced the Disney+ docu-series Ed Sheeran: The Sum of It All, which will coincide with the release of his fifth studio album Subtract.

According to its official synopsis, this series follows the singer “after he learns of life-changing news and reveals his hardships and triumphs during the most challenging period of his life”, showing us “how this difficult time has influenced him and his new music.”

The Sum of It All will be divided into four parts – Love, Loss, Balance, and Life. It will feature exclusive footage behind the singer’s iconic hits, epic stadium performances, and never-before-seen personal archive materials with his friends and family.

The Sum of It All will be released on Disney+ on May 5, and it’s not a coincidence they opted for this date. His fifth studio album (pronounced Subtract) will be released on the same day, and it’s expected to mark the end of his mathematical era.

The standard edition of Subtract will feature a total of 14 tracks, and Sheeran will give us a taste of things to come with the album’s lead single “Eyes Closed”, set to be released this Friday.
