Seeing Beyoncé embrace country with her new single “Texas Hold ‘Em” was quite a surprise, but her fans welcomed her new sound with open arms. Queen B’s new country banger hit No. 1 on the Billboard Hot 100, making her the first Black female artist to top this chart with a country song.

“Texas Hold ‘Em” hit No. 2 following its release on February 11, but managed to reach the top of the summit during its second week. It hit No. 1 with 29 million streams, 16.1 million radio airplay audience impressions, and 29,000 downloads during the February 16-22 tracking week.

It’s quite historic to see Beyoncé climb to the top of the Hot 100 with “Texas Hold ‘Em”, which just happens to be the first country song by a Black female artist to hit No. 1 on this chart. It was released as the lead single from her upcoming country album Renaissance Act II, set to hit the shelves on March 29.

“Texas Hold ‘Em” joins the likes of “Break My Soul” and “Single Ladies” as Beyoncé’s ninth single as a solo artist to top the Billboard Hot 100 chart. She also has an additional four No. 1 songs with Destiny’s Child, bringing her all-time total to 13 chart-topping hits.
