Beyoncé’s decision to go full country on her next album caught her fans by surprise, but they still decided to welcome her new music with open arms. Her latest single “Texas Hold ‘Em” debuted atop Billboard’s Hot Country Songs chart, making her the first Black woman to hit No. 1 on this chart.

With 19.2 million streams, 4.8 million in airplay audience and 39,000 sold, “Texas Hold ‘Em” debuted atop the Billboard Hot 100 chart, behind Jack Harlow’s “Lovin on Me”. It also managed to soar atop the Hot Country Songs chart, becoming one Beyoncé’s first two entries on the survey alongside “16 Carriages”.

“Texas Hold ‘Em” also bows as Beyoncé’s first entry on Billboard’s Country Airplay chart after being promoted to country radio on February 14.

Both songs hit the shelves shortly after Beyoncé teased new music in a Verizon commercial that aired during the Super Bowl LVIII. She’s planning to make a pivot to country with her upcoming album Renaissance Act II, which will be released on March 29.

Beyoncé made history as the first Black woman to reach the top of the Hot Country Songs chart. She also joined Morgan Wallen, Justin Bieber, Billy Ray Cyrus, and Ray Charles as only the fifth act to top both Hot Country Songs and Hot R&B/Hip-Hop Songs.
