Belle and Sebastian are preparing a treat for their fans towards the end of 2017 and the beginning of 2018. Scottish indie legends Belle and Sebastian decided to drop not one, but three EPs in December, January, and February. The EPs will be released under the title How to Solve Our Human Problems. The decision to release three EPs in such short period of time reminds us of the band’s releases Dog On Wheels, Lazy Line Painter Jane, and 3.. 6.. 9 Seconds Of Light back in 1997.

The announcement was followed by the reveal of a new single titled “I’ll Be Your Pilot,” which is taken from the second EP.

“Having your first kid is a huge event, so I wrapped a lot of things I felt about Denny into the song,” said singer Stuart Murdoch about the single. “Being a dad made me feel a little like the pilot in The Little Prince, hence all the references to the Sahara!”

In case you want all of the How to Solve Our Human Problems EPs in one place, don’t worry. There will be a compilation CD alongside limited edition vinyl box set, which will be released after all three EPs are revealed.

Talking about their decision to put out EPs instead of an album, Stuart Murdoch said that they looked at the current state of music release and just wanted to do something different and more interesting.

“I think these days when an LP comes out, it’s kind of disappointing,” said Murdoch to Stereogum. “Nothing seems to happen, and I thought, ‘we’ve got to do something different.’ I hate just to tread water. I’ve been in this business now for 20 years. Surely we can use our heads and do something that’s a bit more interesting that might actually pique some interest.”
