Beirut has returned to the studio and is ready to deliver its fifth studio album real soon. American indie folkers recently announced that they will be releasing their new LP Gallipoli on February 1st, 2019 while also treating their fans with the title-track.

Zach Condon, who is Beirut’s only permanent member and primary songwriter, said in the press release that he started working on the album in winter of 2016 with the recording sessions taking place in Italy, U.S., and Germany. Condon also revealed that he wrote “Gallipoli” in one sitting.

“We stumbled into the medieval-fortressed island town of Gallipoli one night and followed a brass band procession fronted by priests carrying a statue of the town’s saint through the winding narrow streets behind what seemed like the entire town,” – said Condon in a statement. “The next day I wrote the song entirely in one sitting, pausing only to eat.”

After they release Gallipoli, Beirut will embark on a tour that will kick off with a show on February 10th in New York. North America part of the tour will have 16 dates and is scheduled to wrap up on March 5th in Los Angeles. The band will then travel overseas for Europe leg of the tour that will start with a show in Berlin, Germany on March 30th.
