After recently teasing new music on social media, Bat for Lashes now announced that she will be releasing her fifth studio album, titled Lost Girls, this year. The record, which serves as the follow up to 2016’s The Bride, will be out on September 6th. The British singer, real name Natasha Khan, also shared the first single from the album titled “Kids in the Dark.”

According to the official press release, Khan’s new album is inspired by the city of Los Angeles and influenced by growing up during the ’80s.

“If her last album, The Bride, was melancholy and mournful, a tone poem of loss and regret, Lost Girls is her mischievous younger sister, widescreen in scope and bursting with Technicolour intensity,” -the press release continues. “It’s an album for driving in the dark; holding hands at sunset; jumping off bridges with vampires; riding your bike across the moon.”

You can hear “Kids in the Dark” below.

This will the first project for Khan under Bat for Lashes moniker since 2016. In the meantime, she worked on several projects, including making short film Light Beings and doing music for BBC’s TV series Requiem. She received 2019 Ivor Norvello Award for Best Television Soundtrack Winner for the latter one.
