After a lot of anticipation, Spotify Wrapped is finally here—and so are Spotify’s top ten lists for 2023. Taylor Swift was crowned as the most-streamed global artist of 2023, while Bad Bunny and Miley Cyrus scored the most-streamed album and song of the past year.

According to Spotify’s official press release, 2023 was defined by “the return of major female pop stars, sonic diversity that topped the charts, and a global music atmosphere that gave rise to powerful genres.”

They singled out several trends that defined our listening habits in 2023, starting with the global impact of Eurovision and the rise of such genres as Afrobeats and Mandopop. Gen Z refused to be defied by a single music genre in 2023, while themed playlists and music themed around popular culture and social media trends experienced a rise in popularity.

Taylor Swift topped Spotify’s list of the most-streamed artists for 2023, and Spotify marked the occasion in style. They teased the news with 21 puzzle pieces that appeared on billboards all around the world, and Swift then released her song “You’re Losing Me” on Spotify to celebrate the amazing news.

Bad Bunny made history and scored the most-streamed album of the year for the second time with Un Verano Sin Ti, which attracted over 4.5 billion streams globally. Miley Cyrus gave us the most-streamed song of 2023 with “Flowers”, which attracted over 1.6 billion streams on Spotify since its release in January.
