Artic Monkeys recently started teasing they have some new music on the way, and we finally know what they’ve been working on. The British alternative rock band announced the release of their seventh studio album The Car, coming our way this fall.

According to the band’s official press release, this record “finds Arctic Monkeys running wild in a new and sumptuous musical landscape and contains some of the richest and most rewarding vocal performances of Alex Turner‘s career.”

This announcement comes shortly after Artic Monkeys surprised their fans by debuting a new song “I Ain’t Quite Where I Thought I Am” at the Zurich Openair festival. This will be one of ten tracks on their upcoming album The Car, set to be released on October 21.

Alex Turner recently discussed the band’s new album with Big Issue, and said they “got closer to a better version of a more dynamic overall sound with this record”, adding it’s connected to their very beginning as a band when they used to operate on “pure instinct”.

The Car marks the follow-up to Arctic Monkey’s 2018 record Tranquility Base Hotel & Casino, which saw them experimenting with many different genres and became their sixth consecutive no. 1 album in the UK.
