7 Movie Stars Who Sung Their Way to the Billboard Hot 100

Some stars were born with the ability to act and sing, while others had to work at the craft when they were cast in a role which required their vocals. These are some of the actors which not only had to sing for their role but ended up making their way to the top of the Billboards.

Anna Kendrick

Kendrick’s character, Beca, auditions to be part of the college a capella group. She performs “Cups” which is her own take on “When I’m Gone.” Her rendition went viral and peaked at number six on the Billboard Hot 100.

Bradley Cooper

No one even knew Bradley Cooper could sing prior to A Star Is Born. Everyone was taken by surprise when he performed a stunning rending of “Shallow” with Lady Gaga at the Oscars, part of the movie soundtrack which debuted at number one on the Billboard 200.

Ewan McGregor

Ewan McGregor sang many covers during his co-starring role in Moulin Rouge! The only original song in the film is “Come What May”, which was nominated for a Golden Globe for Best Original Song.

Jennifer Lawrence

Jennifer Lawrence’s rendition of “The Hanging Tree” in The Hunger Games reached 12 on the Billboard Hot 100 and 10 on the top 40.

Gwyneth Paltrow

Paltrow’s version of “Forget You” was her debut musical performance on Glee and it peaked at number 11 on the Billboard Hot 100.

Amazingly, Segel’s original song “Man or Mupper” not only reached number 28 on the Billboard Hot 100 but won an Academy Award for best original song.
