]]>Vampire Weekend have previously appeared at Coachella in 2008, 2010, and 2013, and they’re getting ready to return to their old stamping grounds. They have been added to the Coachella lineup at the very last minute, and are now set to deliver a 45-minute performance on the Outdoor Theatre stage on April 13.
Vampire Weekend are heading to Coachella to promote the recent release of their new album Only God Was Above Us, which hit the shelves on April 5. They promoted its release with singles “Capricorn”, “Gen-X Cops”, “Classical”, and “Mary Boone”.
Vampire Weekend will be in pretty good company at this year’s Coachella. Lana Del Rey, Tyler, The Creator, and Doja Cat are headlining the festival, while the lineup also includes No Doubt, Blur, Ice Spice, J Balvin, Peso Pluma, Deftones, Victoria Monét, and Bleachers, among others.
Coachella will return to the Empire Polo Club in Indio, California on two weekends between April 12-14 and April 19-21.

Our list also features several songs that serve as the promo for new albums of our favorite artists. Most mainstream artists made a smart decision and avoided releasing new singles to avoid competing with Beyoncé, but that didn’t stop indie acts from sharing new music with the world.
Some of our favorite alternative rock bands dropped new music this past week, starting with Vampire Weekend’s “Mary Boone”, Twenty One Pilots’ “Next Semester”, and Kings Of Leon’s “Split Screen”. Sum 41 bid farewell with their final album Heaven :x: Hell, which produced their latest single “Dopamine”.

Kacey Musgraves’ Deeper Well produced several great songs, including “The Architect”, Justin Timberlake made it to our list with “No Angels” from Everything I Thought It Was, while Tierra Whack knocked it out of the park with “Snake Eyes” from World Wide Whack.

]]>Vampire Weekend teased the release of their next album by dropping a 30-second teaser, which gives us an idea about their new sound. They also shared a tracklist featuring ten songs, including “Capricorn” and “Gen-X Cops”, set to be released on February 16.
The band’s official press release describes this album as “the product of five years spent refining, reworking and gradually shaping those lyrical and melodic structures to take Vampire Weekend to a new creative peak”, adding it’s “direct yet complex, showing the band at once at its grittiest, and also at its most beautiful and melodic.”
They also revealed that the album will pay homage to 20th-century New York City, and its cover shows the New York Daily News front page from 1988. The album’s title quotes one of the passengers, who was a part of the incident involving Aloha Airlines Flight 243.
Only God Was Above Us will be released on April 5 via Columbia Records, and it marks the follow-up to the band’s chart-topping record Father of the Bride from 2019.

]]>Frog on the Bass Drum Vol. 02 was recorded at Vampire Weekend’s show in Milan, Italy, in July 2019. While writing the newsletter, Baio used the opportunity to remember the first time the band played in Italy, revealed that he hosted “Vampire Weekend Corporate Retreat on the Southern Oregon Coast,” and hinted at “a lot of” plans for the next year.
“So I’d like to conclude this update with the most exciting news: LP5 IS DONE,” Baio wrapped up the newsletter.
The band’s spokesperson later confirmed that Vampire Weekend’s fifth studio album is, in fact, finished in a statement shared with Pitchfork.
Vampire Weekend released their most recent studio effort, Father of the Bride, back in 2019. Since then, the band shared a couple of extended plays, Live in Florida and 40:42, and revealed plans to release a series of limited, vinyl-only live albums.
The first live album in the series, Frog On The Bass Drum Vol. 01, was released in June 2022, with 2,500 copies being available. Frog on the Bass Drum Vol. 02 will be limited to 5,000 copies and is already available for purchase on the band’s official website, with shipping scheduled for February 13, 2024.

Vampire Weekend is currently on the road to support their recent album Father of the Bride, which topped the US Billboard 200 charts back in May. During their trip, the band did several covers, including Laura Branigan’s 1982’s anthem “Gloria.”
They also incorporated Parks And Recreation theme song into their track “M79” during a live show in Indiana.
The group will tour North America until October when they are set to play several shows in Mexico before heading out to Europe in November.

This critically acclaimed record, named after Steve Martin’s 1991 movie of the same name, hit the shelves on May 3. It was released by Columbia Records, making it band’s first LP to be produced by a major record.
Before the album officially came out, Vampire Weekend shared three double singles with their fans – “Harmony Hall/2021”, “Sunflower/Big Blue”, and “This Life/Unbearably White”. The first has proven to be the biggest hit so far and made it to Top 10 of Billboard’s rock and alternative charts.
