It’s been a few months since The Weeknd, Madonna, and Playboi Carti joined forces for “Popular”, and they’re putting this song back on the map! The music video for this catchy track is here, and it sees the amazing trio living the lush life.

The Cliqua-directed visual opens with a close-up of Madonna, delivering the song’s opening line “I’ve seen the devil/ Down Sunset/ In every place/ In every face,” before shifting to the aerial shots of a lavish hillside mansion hidden deep in the mountains.

As the video progresses, we watch The Weeknd, Madonna, and Playboi Carti living their best lives, enjoying their own luxe spaces, while delivering their verses.

“Popular” had a pretty complicated rollout long before its lavish music video hit the shelves. It was initially meant to be released as a part of the soundtrack of The Weeknd’s HBO series The Idol. He even told Zane Lowe that Madonna was “the ultimate co-sign for this song, for this album, and for this TV show” because she’s the ultimate pop star.

“Popular” was eventually released on June 2, 2023, on the deluxe edition of the Weeknd’s greatest hits album The Highlights. It managed to hit the top ten in several countries around the world, including the UK, Canada, and Australia.

The Weeknd’s upcoming sixth studio album would mark the end of his current era, which kicked off with After Hours in 2020. The next leg of The Weeknd’s After Hours til Dawn Tour was supposed to take place in Australia and New Zealand this fall, but it will take a while for him to get there. The Canadian singer decided to postpone the Oceania leg of his ongoing tour due to “unforeseen circumstances”.

Fans who bought tickets for The Weeknd’s upcoming concerts in Australia and New Zealand received an email announcing that the tour has been postponed. The singer said he’s “deeply disappointed” by the delay, but added he can’t wait to resume the tour.

Australian ticketing company Ticketek also confirmed the postponement, by sharing a message from Live Nation Australia & New Zealand on The Weeknd’s tour page:

“We understand fans will be disappointed, and Live Nation is focused on working with The Weeknd to secure a new tour schedule. We will make a further announcement as soon as possible.”

The Weeknd was set to perform two concerts at Brisbane’s Suncorp Stadium on November 20/21 before doing three shows in Sydney, four in Melbourne, and two in Auckland. New dates will be announced next year, and fans can use their current tickets to attend new shows, but getting a full refund is also an option if they’re unable to attend the new dates.

Travis Scott is no stranger to A-list collaborations, and his latest is one for the books! The Grammy-nominated rapper tapped The Weeknd and Bad Bunny for his comeback single “K-POP”, which serves as the introduction to his upcoming album Utopia.

Just a few days after teasing this collaboration on social media, Scott dropped a self-directed music video, inviting us into the world of all three artists. Scott’s portion was filmed at a stadium filled with racing bikes, Bad Bunny’s verse takes us to a darkly lit room filled with dancers, while The Weeknd’s parts are filmed at a futuristic mansion.

The Weeknd and Scott go a way back and they most recently collaborated on the song “Power Is Power” alongside SZA. Scott is also no stranger to collaboration with Bad Bunny and he previously recorded a remix of his song “Krippy Kush” ft. Farruko and Rvssian.

“K-POP” serves as the lead single on Scott’s upcoming fourth studio album Utopia, which is expected to come out later this month. It marks the rapper’s first album since his magnum opus Astroworld, which came out back in 2018 and produced singles “Butterfly Effect” and “Sicko Mode”

Scott will promote the release of Utopia with a launch event which will be live-streamed from the Pyramids of Giza in Egypt on July 28.

Olivia Rodrigo’s long-awaited comeback single “Vampire” is definitely the week’s most exciting new release. The young singer used it to set the tone for her sophomore studio album Guts, which she officially announced about a week before sharing this song with the world.

As far as new albums go, none created more buzz than Lil Uzi Vert’s Pink Tape. The rapper’s new LP features collaborations with Travis Scott, Bring Me The Horizon, Don Toliver, and Babymetal, but none of them compares to the Nicki Minaj duet “Endless Fashion”.

Soundtracks for Barbie and The Idol made another appearance on our list this week. Charli XCX’s long-awaited Barbie song “Speed Drive” is here, and it exceeded our wildest expectations. Suzanna Son remains the best thing about The Idol soundtrack and she joined forces with The Weeknd and Lil Baby for “False Idols” this time around.

Check out the rest of our list to discover new music by Bad Bunny, Shakira, Nothing But Thieves, Jon Batiste, and many more.

It’s been over a year since The Weeknd dropped his latest studio album Dawn FM, and its follow-up is just around the corner. The singer said he’s “finished” with his next studio album and described it as the third part of the trilogy.

The Weeknd recently set down with Variety to discuss his HBO show The Idol and his plans for the future after this project. The Canadian singer revealed that he has a new album on the way, which will serve as a companion to his recent LPs After Hours and Dawn FM.

“I’m finishing the third part of this of this saga, of this trilogy. The name of it will come out soon, but it’s not called what some fans think it’s called… what they think it’s called is actually a song on the album, but that’s not what the actual album is called,” said The Weeknd.

The singer’s fifth studio album Dawn FM came out in January last year, and he’s been pretty busy since its release. In addition to making a shift to acting with his role in The Idol, The Weeknd recorded, wrote, and produced multiple songs for its soundtrack, including “Double Fantasy” ft. Future and “Popular” ft. Playboi Carti and Madonna.

Summer is finally here, and our favorite artists are celebrating its arrival by dropping amazing new bangers. Our list of the week’s best tracks includes some worthy candidates for the song of the summer, from Nicki Minaj and Ice Spice’s “Barbie World” to Anitta’s “Funk Rave”.

This week marked the release of new albums by several female vocalists we all know and love, including Kelly Clarkson, Kim Petras, and Coi Leray. All of their albums are worth keep listening to in full, but we had to stick to picking one song from each.

Highly-anticipated soundtracks for The Idol and Barbie have also given us two of the strongest candidates for song of the week. The Weeknd joined forces with Lily-Rose Depp and Blackpink’s Jennie for “One of the Girls”, while Nicki Minaj and Ice Spice put their own hip-hop-infused twist on Aqua’s iconic song “Barbie Girl” with their new collaboration “Barbie World”.

It’s also been a great week for Latin music, with Anitta, Rauw Alejandro, and Bizarrap making the cut. Fans of alternative music won’t be disappointed by our list, either, because we’re bringing you new tracks by Hozier, Beck, and   Portugal. The Man.

Nicki Minaj & Ice Spice – Barbie World (with Aqua)

The Weeknd, Jennie & Lily-Rose Depp – One Of The Girls

Beck & Phoenix – Odyssey

Coi Leray & David Guetta – Make My Day

Hozier – Unknown / Nth

Kim Petras – King Of Hearts

Kelly Clarkson – Rick Hudson

Portugal. The Man – Ghost Town

Rauw Alejandro & Bizarrap – Baby Hello

Summer is heating up and our favorite artists are welcoming the new season on a high note. New songs by Olivia Rodrigo, Shakira, Lil Uzi Vert, and Charli XCX are here to spice up your week and take your summer playlist to new heights.
