]]>This Friday marked the release of numerous new albums, but none of them created more buzz than The Weeknd’s long-awaited record Hurry Up Tomorrow. It’s a collection of 21 brand-new songs, each one amazing in its own right, and we singled out “Cry For Me” as one of the early favorites.
This has also been a pretty epic week for amazing collaborations. We’ve seen many of our favorite indie artists join forces, starting with Sasami and Clairo, whose duet “In Love With A Memory” is the best of both worlds.
James Bay and Jon Batiste partnered up for “Sunshine in the Room”, while Jamie xx and Erykah Badu rocked our world with their unexpected collaboration “F.U.” Indie rock darlings Julien Baker and Torres impressed us with their new duet “Sylvia”.
The rest of our list is equally amazing, and it features brand-new tracks from a wide range of genres, from country to R&B. Stick around to discover new songs by The Lumineers, Cat Burns, Jessie Reyez, Zach Bryan, and Nessa Barrett.

]]>The Weeknd released an official statement pushing the release of Hurry Up Tomorrow to January 31 and canceled the Rose Bowl concert “out of respect and concern for the people of Los Angeles County.”
“This city has always been a profound source of inspiration for me, and my thoughts are with everyone impacted during this difficult time… My focus remains on supporting the recovery of these communities and aiding its incredible people as they rebuild,” he said in a statement.
Hurry Up Tomorrow represents the final installment in The Weeknd’s trilogy, which kicked off with After Hours and continued with Dawn FM. He promoted its release with three singles – “Dancing in the Flames”, “Timeless” ft. Playboi Carti, and “São Paulo” ft. Anitta.
Hurry Up Tomorrow will be released via XO and Republic Records on January 31, and The Weeknd is planning to promote its release with a world tour later this year.

]]>Monica Damashek, Spotify’s head of artist and label partnerships, announced this exclusive concert and described it as a one-of-a-kind event that commemorates one of the great artists of our time and his impeccable catalog of hits.
“When the idea first struck to bring the Billions Club to life, we knew we wanted to celebrate both the artist and the fans simultaneously. The Weeknd was the ideal choice – he’s the artist with the most songs in the Billions Club and has an unwavering global fanbase,” said Damashek in a statement.
The Billions Club Live marks the celebration of The Weekend having the most songs to hit one billion streams on Spotify, but this isn’t his first major record. His smash hit “Blinding Lights” is the most streamed song of all time on this platform, while The Weeknd made history as the first artist to surpass 100 million monthly listeners on Spotify last year.
The Weeknd’s Billions Club Live performance will take place in Los Angeles on December 17. He’s expected to perform some of his biggest hits, including “Starboy,” “The Hills,” “Save Your Tears,” “Blinding Lights,” and “I Feel It Coming.”

Speaking of new albums, The Weeknd is teasing the newly-announced Hurry Up Tomorrow. After sharing the first single “Dancing in the Flames” earlier this month, he dropped the Playboi Carti collaboration “Timeless” just two weeks later.
This week has been pretty great for female vocalists overall, and Lady Gaga’s new album is just a drop in the ocean. Rock legend Stevie Nicks returned with “The Lighthouse”, Nina Nesbitt released “Parachute” from her new album Mountain Music, while Jade continued teasing her debut solo album with “Midnight Cowboy”.
Our favorite Latin singers have also been pretty busy – Rosalía rocked our world with “Omega” ft. Ralphie Choo, while Shakira gave us another catchy bop to dance to with “Soltera”.

FKA Twigs is currently gearing up for the release of her third studio album Eusexua, and she gave us a taste of things to come with the lead single of the same name.
When it comes to new album releases, our favorite indie artists were having a field day this Friday. Suki Waterhouse promoted her new album Memoir of a Sparklemuffin with “Model, Actress, Whatever”, London Grammar impressed us with “You and I” from The Greatest Love, while Snow Patrol rocked our world with “Never Really Tire” from The Forest is the Path.

]]>The Weeknd announced his new album with a dramatic cryptic message, where he reflected on the path his career took over the course of the past 14 years. He talked about trying to “cleanse the wounds with melodies and lights” and feeling stuck in limbo, before announcing the dawn of a new age.
“More songs could help, but what do I have left to say? Woe is me in my gilded cage, right? The very thing that once made me invincible failed me on the world stage. A new trauma surfaced, opening floodgates. A new path awaits. When today ends, I’ll discover who I am.”
The Weeknd also revealed his new album will be titled Hurry Up Tomorrow, adding it will make the third and final chapter of the trilogy he started with After Hours and Dawn FM. He announced its title just in time for the launch of his Universal Studios experience The Weeknd: Nightmare Trilogy and the highly-anticipated concert in São Paulo, Brazil on September 7.

“Popular” had a pretty complicated rollout long before its lavish music video hit the shelves. It was initially meant to be released as a part of the soundtrack of The Weeknd’s HBO series The Idol. He even told Zane Lowe that Madonna was “the ultimate co-sign for this song, for this album, and for this TV show” because she’s the ultimate pop star.
“Popular” was eventually released on June 2, 2023, on the deluxe edition of the Weeknd’s greatest hits album The Highlights. It managed to hit the top ten in several countries around the world, including the UK, Canada, and Australia.
