]]>Deadline reports that the movie is still in early development. The details are scarce, but the project is expected to see Kiedis and RHCP’s manager Guy Oseary serving as producers alongside Brian Grazer, who is known for producing Eminem’s semi-biopic 8 Mile.
This isn’t the first time that Scar Tissue is set for adaptation. Back in 2008, Kiedis tried to get the memoir adapted into a TV show for HBO. The series even got a pilot and a premiere date in 2010 but eventually didn’t get picked up by the network.
A second attempt followed in 2011, when FX acquired the rights for the series with the intention of focusing on Kiedis’ early life. However, the project got stuck in development hell and never got off the ground.
Written by Kiedis and Larry Sloman, Scar Tissue is considered one of the greatest rock memoirs of all time. It follows Kiedis’ life until 2004, focusing on the relationship with his father, drug addiction, music career, and more.
Despite the book’s popularity, Kiedis has long regretted writing it but eventually changed his mind due to the positive effects it had on those who read it.
“I realized that the whole point of writing that book wasn’t for me, but to show that somebody can go all the way down and come all the way back and have a productive, successful happy interesting life,” he said back in 2016.

]]>RHCP is touring in support of their 2022 studio albums Unlimited Love and Return of the Dream Canteen. They will play a total of 16 shows, starting on May 28 in Ridgefield, Washington, and wrapping up the trip in St. Louis, Missouri, on July 30.
The band will be joined by various supporting acts for different shows, including iconic rapper Ice Cube and Grammy Award-winner Kid Cudi, as well as Ken Carson, IRONTOM, Otoboke Beaver, Seun Kuti, and Wand.
The tickets for the shows will be available for presale on December 6 with the use of code “RHCP24” and go on general sale two days later.
The Red Hot Chili Peppers initially started working on a new album, follow up to 2016’s The Getaway, with guitarist Josh Klinghoffer. However, unsatisfied with the progress, the band decided to say goodbye to Klinghoffer and bring back longtime member John Frusciante in 2019 after a decade of absence.
Sessions with Frusciante turned out to be so productive that they spanned enough material for two albums. Unlimited Love was released first in April 2022, and Return of the Dream Canteen followed six months later.
RHCP started with the tour, their first in five years and first with Frusciante in 15 years, shortly after Unlimited Love came out. So far, the band has done two legs of North American dates and two legs of shows in Europe, alongside concerts in South America, Oceania, and Asia.

]]>Flea’s interview with the Los Angeles Times was a true blast from the past, and he reflected on his extensive career with RHCP. The legendary band did a lot of things he’s proud of over the course of almost four decades, but Flea believes there was room for improvement when it comes to their debut studio album The Red Hot Chili Peppers from 1984.
Flea told LA Times that he’ll always regret the way they made their first album because the songs were really good, but the tone wasn’t right because they were going through many changes at the time.
“[Drummer] Jack [Irons] and [guitarist] Hillel [Slovak] quit, and we hired these two other guys: Jack Sherman and Cliff Martinez. Both were great musicians, but the connection just wasn’t as profound as we had with the guys we started with,” explained Flea.
The Red Hot Chili Peppers was much more experimental than RHCP’s later albums and explored such genres as funk rock and rap rock. It produced only one single: “Get Up and Jump”.

The festivals are the only shows booked. For now, we’ll mostly be concentrating on new songs and writing a new record. We’re all real excited to make new music,” he told the magazine. However, he didn’t provide any details about the album.
This is the third stint of Frusciante in the band. He first joined RHCP in 1988 and was a member until 1992. He then came back to the band in 1998 and departed again in 2009. He was part of some of the band’s most successful albums; 1991’s Blood Sex Sugar Magic and 1998’s Californication.

]]>If this isn’t enough to convince you to immediately buy the tickets for this iconic Napa Valley festival, the rest of the lineup certainly will. Miley Cyrus, Khalid, Anderson .Paak, Janelle Monae, and Maren Morris are only some of the many amazing artists set to perform at BottleRock.
Dave Graham, chief executive of BottleRock Napa Valley, described this as the festivals’ strongest lineup to date because it represents the best of what is happening in music right now. “It’s the deepest lineup that we have ever had. No matter how you want to measure it, whether it’s ticket sales, per band, the depth of the talent on the seventh or eighth lines of the lineup or on money spent, it’s our strongest lineup to date,” Graham told Billboard.
BottleRock will take place from May 22-24 at the Napa Valley Expo.

]]>“The Red Hot Chili Peppers announce that we are parting ways with our guitarist of the past 10 years Josh Klinghoffer,” said the band in a statement posted on social media. “Josh is a beautiful musician who we respect and love. We are deeply grateful for our time with him, and the countless gifts he shared with us.”
Klinghoffer joined Red Hot Chili Peppers in 2009 as a touring member, after Frusciante decided to take a break from the band. He recorded two studio albums with the group; I’m with You and The Getaway.
“We also announce, with great excitement and full hearts, that John Frusciante is rejoining our group,” RHCP added.
John Frusciante joined RHCP in 1988 as an 18-year-old, replacing the late group’s founder Hillel Slovak. Frusciante took part in recording Mother’s Milk in 1989 and Blood Sugar Sex Magik in 1991 before leaving the band in 1992. In the following years, he struggled with addictions, which influenced him to take a break from music.
After a successful rehabilitation, Frusciante was invited to rejoin the band in 1999, after the group fired Dave Navarro. He recorded three more albums with the band in the following decade, before quitting once again saying he needs a break from constant work.

Brian Appel, co-founder and CEO of Boston Calling Events, said they’re proud of being able to bring some of the most influential rock artists to Boston next year, and promised there’s much more to come.
“We have worked for years to bring the Foo Fighters and Red Hot Chili Peppers to the festival, and this year everything lined up perfectly. We couldn’t be happier, and will complement them with an incredibly diverse lineup of artists throughout the festival weekend,” said Appel in a press release.

]]>In terms of Radiohead’s catalog, there are a handful of songs from Pablo Honey or The Bends that we could imagine the Chilis covering if we really stretch our imaginations. Of all the Radiohead songs out there though, one of the tracks we would least expect from the Chilli Peppers is “Pyramid Song”. The track was born out of the depths of Radiohead’s experimental stage and it’s soft, tender and stripped back. There’s no slap bass and funk is replaced by Thom Yorke’s tortured soul.
Of course, if we were to picture the Red Hot Chili Peppers covering a song like that, the only scenario it would possibly make sense is if they were playing it in the presence of actual pyramids. And this is exactly what happened last weekend (March 15).
Josh Klinghoffer went solo and played a stripped back cover of the song with his piano. The cover sound surprisingly similar to the original and to hear it played in the presence of the Pyramids of Giza would have been spectacular.

RHCP won’t be the first band to play at the Egypt’s Great Pyramids of Giza, since several other notable acts got the opportunity to “rock” this site including Pink Floyd in 1971 and Grateful Dead in 1978.
Although Red Hot Chili Peppers are working on a new studio album, the chances of the record being out by this concert are slim to none. Drummer Chad Smith recently told Sirius XM’s Volume West that their new studio release was going great until the California wildfires broke out and forced the band to pause the work.
“We started to work on [the new album], which, for us, is just getting in a room and making some noise and putting some notes together,” – said Smith. “And then the fires came, and the house we were working in, there was no damage, it didn’t burn down, but we couldn’t get back in there. So that halted our [progress].”
