]]>Capaldi wrapped up 2023 by sharing a health update with his fans on social media, but also took a moment to announce the surprise release of the deluxe edition of his last studio album. It featured a total of five new songs, and Capaldi felt it would be a shame not to share them with the world.
He also admitted that releasing Broken by Desire to Be Heavenly Sent in the first place was a scary experience, and thanked his fans for welcoming it with open arms.
“I was absolutely terrified of disappointing you all, afraid of not living up to expectations, and in all honesty scared that the whole thing would be a complete flop. But thanks to all of you, it wasn’t. It’s mind-blowing to see the songs on this album still resonating with so many of you,” wrote Capaldi on social media.
Broken by Desire to Be Heavenly Sent spent two consecutive weeks atop the UK Albums Chart following its release in May last year, and its extended edition was surprise-released on January 1, 2024.

]]>Despite giving us many amazing new songs, this week has been pretty slow in terms of new album releases. That didn’t stop Lewis Capaldi from dropping an extended edition of his sophomore album Broken by Desire to Be Heavenly Sent, which features five brand-new tracks, including “Strangers”.
Several songs on our list serve as the intrude for some of the most highly-anticipated new albums hitting the shelves this winter. That happens to be the case with “One Eyed Bastard” from Green Day’s Saviors and “Caesar on a TV Screen” from The Last Dinner Party’s Prelude to Ecstasy.
As for the rest of our list this week, we made sure to include a perfect mix of different genres, so everyone can find a song that suits their taste. Country fans can discover new music by Gabby Barrett, hip-hop lovers will enjoy 24kGoldn’s “Good Intentions”, while those who prefer Latin sound can vibe to Luis R Conriquez and Peso Pluma.

It became the fastest-selling album of 2023 in the UK at the time of its debut, in addition to topping the charts in several more countries.
Capaldi announced an indefinite break from touring due to health issues following its release but recently revealed he’d always hoped to drop an extended version at some point.
“After some back-and-forth about whether or not it was the right thing to do, I’ve decided it would be a shame for these five extra songs, which are so incredibly special to me, to sit on my hard drive, never to see the light of day,” said Capaldi in a statement on social media.
He also addressed his plans for the future and said he’s going to continue taking care of himself, writing new music, and reflecting on some of the most incredible years of his life.

Capaldi thanked his fans for their support in an emotional post on social media but added he’ll take a break from touring for the foreseeable future to focus on his mental health.
“The truth is I’m still learning to adjust to the impact of my Tourette’s and on Saturday it became obvious that I need to spend much more time getting my mental and physical health in order, so I can keep doing everything I love for a long time to come,” wrote Capaldi.
Capaldi was diagnosed with Tourette’s syndrome last year, and the tics caused by this illness significantly impacted his live performances. He’s been very open about his struggles, and even said he’d consider retiring from performing if his condition didn’t improve.
