]]>Higher Than Heaven hit No. 1 on the UK Albums Chart during its debut week with 11,818 album-equivalent units earned. Despite having the lowest week among all of Goulding’s albums on the chart, this record still managed to set several notable milestones.
Higher Than Heaven joins Lights, Halcyon, and Brightest Blue as Goulding’s fourth album to top the charts in the UK. She’s only the second British female artist after Adele to hit No. 1 on the UK Albums Chart with four different albums.
Higher Than Heaven also helped Goulding achieve her first career chart double. She returned to no. 1 on the UK Singles Chart with “Miracle”, her third collaboration with Calvin Harris, following the success of “I Need Your Love” and “Outside”.
Higher Than Heaven was released via Polydor Records on April 7, and it includes singles “Easy Lover”, “Let It Die” and “Like a Saviour”. Despite being Goulding’s highest-charting song right now, “Miracle” isn’t one of the songs featured on this album.

April 7 marked the release of several new albums, and Ellie Goulding’s Higher Than Heaven created the most buzz. Since we previously got to hear four of the album’s best songs, we had to settle for “Better Man” as its best new release.
This week has also been a great week for alternative pop vocalists and several made it to our list with their brand-new songs, including Caroline Polachek, Maisie Peters, and Ashnikko. Their new music is worth waiting for, and we’re excited to see what they’re going to do next.

]]>In a recent interview with The Rolling Stone, the British hitmaker said she wanted her new album to be completely different from its predecessor Brightest Blue.
“In the best possible way, this album wasn’t taken from personal experiences, and it was such a relief and really refreshing to not be sitting in the studio going through all the things that happened to me and affected me,” Goulding told The Rolling Stone.
When she announced this record back in October, the singer revealed it was written during the COVID-19 pandemic, and “nobody wanted to sit and agonize over some relationship or some drama” after all the darkness they went through in the past two years. She also described it as an album “about being passionately in love.”
Higher Than Heaven will hit the shelves on April 7, and its release was preceded by singles “Easy Lover”, “All by Myself”, “Let It Die”, “Like a Saviour”, and “By the End of the Night”.

]]>This week’s list is defined by pop bops, and that’s not a shocker since Miley Cyrus just gave us a whole new album of them. It’s tough to single out just one best song from Endless Summer Vacation, but we decided to go with its second single “River”.
Pop bops on this week’s list come from every corner of the globe, from South Korea to the UK. Fans of K-pop will be happy to hear TWICE’s latest single “Set Me Free” while Eurovision fanatics have Mae Muller’s breakup anthem “I Wrote A Song” to look forward to.
If you prefer alternative sound, you won’t be disappointed by our list, because we have new releases by Depeche Mode, Tame Impala, and Róisín Murphy to look forward to this week… And don’t even get us started on Florence Welch’s amazing cover of No Doubt’s “Just a Girl”!

]]>Glittering synths, pumping bass, and quick drums come together to create another one of Harris’ signature EDM bangers, but Goulding’s soaring vocals eventually seal the deal. It marks the third collaboration between the two artists, following “I Need Your Love” and “Outside”.
Harris recently set down with Apple Music 1’s Zane Lowe to discuss “Miracle” and said that collaboration with Goulding came naturally because she’s “one of a kind” and you can’t get her vocals from anyone else.
“I definitely have very defined sort of likes and dislikes for music and artists. And one of my likes is an Ellie Goulding angelic vocal… Ellie can do a lot of different things, for me, this is my absolute favorite thing that she does, and only she can do it, in my opinion,” Harris told Lowe.
“Miracle” was released as a non-album single, and it’s not associated with Harris’ latest LP Funk Wav Bounces Vol. 2. It’s also not listed as one of the tracks from Goulding’s fifth studio album Higher Than Heaven, set to hit the shelves on April 7.

]]>The music video directed by Sophia Ray is one crazy ride and it shows the British singer portraying several quirky characters. It was filmed in a school in Bulgaria, and Goulding told The Rolling Stone that she wanted to make the viewers feel like they’ve entered some kind of parallel universe or a video game while watching it.
As for the song itself, she co-wrote it with Greg Kurstin and Julia Michaels and wanted to explore the theme of being love-struck by someone who doesn’t feel the same way.
“[It’s…] the age-old tale of being infatuated by someone cool and beautiful knowing that they will never quite feel the same. It’s about going back to the same dangerous person to feel alive when you know they have hurt people again and again before you,” explained Goulding.
“Easy Lover” will be featured on the singer’s upcoming fifth studio album, the follow-up to her 2020 record Brightest Blue. It still doesn’t have an official title or release date, but Goulding described it as a dance-pop record.

]]>“Worry About Me” is a pretty personal song for Goulding, who drew inspiration from an experience with a “guy [who] wanted [her] at his convenience” at the time when she was close to getting over him.
“It is intentionally tongue-in-cheek because I’m not at all bitter, I just found it humorous. It was refreshing to write, in the sunshine of L.A., because at the time I was writing dark songs about my state of mind in New York,” the British singer explained in a statement.
“Worry About Me” is Goulding’s first release this year, and it’s expected to be featured on her fourth studio album, set to come out on June 5th. We’re yet to see if her previously released singles “Flux”, “Sixteen”, and the Juice WRLD collaboration “Hate Me” will make it to this record.

It’s still unclear if “Close to Me” is only a one-off single or the first song from Goulding’s fourth album. Her last studio recording Delirium came out in 2015, but singer’s representative recently stated new music is on the horizon.
