]]>According to the info included, the rough mix was completed on May 14th, 1991, at One on One Recording studio in Los Angeles. Compared to The Black Album version, it seems to have fewer effects, especially guitar-wise, and frontman James Hetfield’s vocals sound cleaner and softer. Hear it below.
“The Unforgiven” rough mix will be included in the special reissue of The Black Album. It comes on September 10th and will contain remastered original songs and loads of other goodies like alternate mixes and demo versions.
The reissue will be followed by The Metallica Blacklist cover album, which features more than 50 artists delivering their renditions of The Black Album songs in all sorts of different styles. Seven “The Unforgiven” covers will be included on the album, with three of them already being made available on streaming platforms.

]]>Flamagra (Instrumentals) is scheduled to drop on May 29th as a CD and digital download with special vinyl being in works as well. The vinyl edition will come on two LPs and will feature “exclusive animated slipmat” done by filmmaker Winston Hacking and artist Drew Tetz.
Flying Lotus already presented the first song from the Flamagra (Instrumentals) when he recently released a beats-only version of “Black Balloons Reprise.” The song originally featured Denzel Curry on vocals.
Hear the new version below.
“Whereas the original album featured a dream cast of vocal collaborators, this project places the masterful arrangements, electronics, and musicianship at the forefront,” said Flying Lotus about the project.
Flamagra was released last summer and featured an appearance from Anderson .Paak, George Clinton, Shabazz Palaces, Toro y Moi, and Solange among others. The record received overwhelmingly positive reviews while peaking at No.45 on US Billboard 200 charts.

]]>The post New Grateful Dead Live Album with Unreleased Tracks Coming in November appeared first on Hot Pop Today.
]]>According to Rolling Stone, the album is comprised of songs dating back to 1992 and 1993, which were performed during Grateful Dead’s live shows. The songs were originally meant to be part of the band’s upcoming album, which was never released due to frontman Jerry Garcia’s death in 1995.
Ready or Not will come in several different formats, including CD and digital release. It will also be available as a limited double vinyl LP with red and blue discs.
“Ready Or Not has been a long time coming,” said Lemieux in a statement. “It’s an album we’ve been working on for many, many years. This batch of ‘new’ Grateful Dead songs has never been compiled in one place and given its proper due as a huge part of the Dead’s late-era legacy.”
This won’t be the only Grateful Dead release this year, as four live albums with band’s music saw release earlier this year. Also, a compilation album titled Sage & Spirit was presented back in April.

]]>The post Dave Davies Confirms The Kinks Are Working on New Songs appeared first on Hot Pop Today.
]]>The band’s singer and guitarist Ray Davies said back in 2018 that he and his brother Dave Davies (lead guitar), alongside original drummer Mick Avory, are working on a “new Kinks record.” Rolling Stone magazine reached out to Dave Davies for follow-up info this week and received some encouraging news.
According to Davies, the group was busy working on a reissue of their iconic 1969’s concept album Arthur, which will be out in October.
“That’s virtually done,” – said Davies. “It’s a really, really interesting package that’s going to have other songs from that time period like [my solo song] “Hold My Hand.”
During the work on Arthur, the band was going through their archives and discovered numerous unreleased songs that have big potential.
“This has really been going on for a couple of years,” – he added, “We keep going backwards and listening to a lot of old stuff. Some of that is very good, and some of it needs a bit of work.”
The Kinks have been finishing these old songs lately and re-recording them, while also working on brand new tracks.
“The songs are really just in demo form now,” – Dave explains. “But good demos. Ray is still dissecting various other material we might use. The intention is to get the workout, but it’s not a done deal.”
Rolling Stone was also curious about a potential tour of The Kinks surviving members, but Dave Davies didn’t have much to say about that.
“Interesting question,” – he said. “I really don’t know. I think it’s possible. It’s not out of the question. But at this stage, it’s far too early to say. It would be fun though, wouldn’t it?”

]]>The Unforgettable Fire is pressed on wine red and How to Dismantle an Atomic Bomb on red vinyl, while both releases contain 16-page booklets with lyrics. The reissued vinyl editions are available as of June 7th.
The Unforgettable Fire was U2’s fourth studio album and saw the band trying to move away from the rock sound on their previous records and lean more towards atmospheric and experimental music. The album wasn’t a big, hit but ended up receiving favorable reviews from the critics and delivering several popular songs like “Bad” and “A Sort of Homecoming.”
How to Dismantle an Atomic Bomb marked band’s return to mainstream sound after their trips to alternative, pop, and dance music in the 1990s. The album was a huge success, reaching No.1 in more than 30 countries including the US and the UK. It also got U2 nine Grammy Awards including the ones for Album of the Year and Best Rock Album. Hits from the record include “Vertigo,” “City of Blinding Lights,” and “Sometimes You Can’t Make It on Your Own.”

]]>The post Arctic Monkeys Albums Ranked from Worst to Best appeared first on Hot Pop Today.
]]>Humbug introduced Arctic Monkeys to new sounds and styles, but the band didn’t sound too comfortable with them on this record. Despite this, it remains an album that is worthy of your time and essential step in the band’s journey to becoming one of the most important groups of their generation.
Standout Moment: “Cornerstone”
Maybe you didn’t expect to see Tranquility Base Hotel & Casino so early, but it is what it is. The album is very divisive since Arctic Monkeys did a lot of experimenting on this one. It is a strange record that you’ll either love or hate. We are somewhere in between.
Standout Moment: “She Looks Like Fun”
For most bands, Suck It and See would be one of their best works ever. But for Arctic Monkeys, this excellent record just wasn’t a groundbreaking work, but only an album where they didn’t make any missteps.
Standout Moment: “Library Pictures”
Released more than 10 years ago, Favourite Worst Nightmare was a fast-paced album with a hint of melancholy that cemented the status of Arctic Monkeys as one of the most exciting new bands in rock music.
Standout Moment: “Do Me a Favour”
Most people will tell you that AM is the band’s greatest work that will never be topped. And they wouldn’t be wrong since this record is perfectly tailored to appeal to both mainstream audience and hardcore fans. But it still doesn’t make it the best.
Standout Moment: “R U Mine?”
Because Arctic Monkeys’ debut album Whatever People Say I Am, That’s What I’m Not deserves to be at the top of our list. This isn’t a knock on the things that they accomplished later in their career or a proof that they never got better as a band. They did, but Whatever People Say I Am, That’s What I’m Not was just a perfect mixture of youth, relatable lyrics, and catchy tunes. Everything fit together, and we got an almost perfect album that doesn’t have a bad song on it.
Standout Moment: “I Bet You Look Good on the Dancefloor”
