]]>Malik teased the release of Room Under the Stairs with the lead single “What I Am” last month, and there’s more where that came from! “Alienated” will hit the shelves on April 12 as the album’s second single, and it’s one of its 15 tracks, along with “Grateful”, “Gates of Hell”, “Concrete Kisses”, and “Something in the Water”.
Malik previously said that his intention for this album is to give us more insight into who he is “personally as a human being.” He also revealed it will be inspired by his real-life experiences, including his relationship with his daughter, during an appearance on Call Her Daddy podcast.
Dave Cobb co-produced this album alongside Malik and he told Rolling Stone that “this record is removing the glass from his spirit directly to his fans” because you can really hear the singer’s “love, loss, pain, triumph and humanity in [his voice]”.
Room Under the Stairs will be released on May 17 via Mercury and Republic Records.

]]>Malik embarked on his solo journey after leaving One Direction in 2015, but he hasn’t forgotten his roots. He opened up about his time with the band in an interview on a Stationhead stream and said he enjoys listening back to the band’s back catalog.
“I’ve been listening to a bit of One Direction music recently, reminiscing. Good times. We made some good music as a band. We were pretty good,” said Malik.
Malik joined One Direction in 2010, alongside Niall Horan, Liam Payne, Harry Styles, and Louis Tomlinson, following their auditions for the British singing competition show The X Factor. They went on to become one of the best-selling boy bands of all time, but it all came crashing down when Malik left in 2015 and they officially went on hiatus one year later.
Malik is currently gearing up for the release of his fourth solo studio album Room Under the Stairs. It will hit the shelves on May 17, and he promoted its release with the lead single “What I Am”.

]]>Zayn Malik made a rare appearance on Call Her Daddy podcast and discussed many different topics with its cost Alex Cooper. He took a moment to reflect on his time with One Direction and revealed the real reason behind his departure in 2015.
Zayn said that he “completely, selfishly” wanted to be the first person to leave and make his own record and this was one of the reasons why he decided to go solo almost a decade ago.
“I was like, ‘I’m gonna jump the gun here for the first time.’ I’m a passive dude, but when it comes to my music and my business, I’m serious about it and I’m competitive. So I wanted to be the first to go and do my own thing,” he explained.
Malik also told Cooper that they all grew “sick of each other” because they used to be together every day for five years, but added that he now looks back at that time in a much fonder light.

]]>Mercury Records president Tyler Arnold announced their new deal with Zayn, adding he knew that he was the right fit for this label as soon as they met.
“I was blown away by the new music, but just as impressed by his vision, drive, and spirit. We’re honored he and his team have joined us at Mercury Records. We’ve got an incredible opportunity to tell the next chapter of his story together,” said Arnold in a statement.
Zayn teased new music with a short clip that sees him sitting on a motorcycle and revving the engine before his helmet visor dramatically falls shut. Zayn wiped all posts from his Instagram to tease new music, which will arrive “very soon this summer.”
Zayn’s last studio album Nobody Is Listening came out in early 2021, and it produced singles “Better” and “Vibez”. It was followed by the release of the three-song mixtape Yellow Tape, which marked Zayn’s shift from pop to old-school hip-hop.
