]]>When it was initially released on October 20, Hackney Diamonds easily soared to No. 1 in the UK, outselling the rest of the top five combined. It repeated its success on December 22, when it returned for its second consecutive week at No. 1.
“It’s a wonderful way to round off 2023. Thank you to everyone for listening to Hackney Diamonds. Have a very happy Christmas and New Year!” said The Rolling Stones in a statement.
It’s quite an achievement for The Rolling Stones to return to No. 1 during a week dominated by holiday-themed releases. Michael Bublé’s seasonal staple Christmas holds steady at No. 2, and it’s joined by Cher’s Christmas, which rose to its brand-new peak at No. 5.
The legendary rock band promoted the release of Hackney Diamonds with singles “Angry”, “Sweet Sounds of Heaven”, and “Mess It Up”, and they’re planning to embark on a tour across North America next spring. They also release a deluxe live edition of the album on December 15.

]]>This has been an amazing week for fans of stronger sound, with two beloved bands both surprising us with new albums. We’re talking about The Rolling Stones’ Hackney Diamonds and Blink-182’s One More Time… – two long-awaited LPs that gave us countless amazing new songs and made their way to our list of the best songs of the week.
When it comes to the rest of our list, high-profile collaborations are also having a moment. “In The City” by Charli XCX and Sam Smith and “Too Much” by The Kid LAROI, Jung Kook, and Central Cee are set to make the biggest splash, but we also added Marshmello, Pink, and Sting’s new song “Dreaming” to the mix.
Anitta, Caroline Polachek, Dove Cameron, and 21 Savage also surprised us with new music this week, so stick around and get ready to listen to their brand-new singles.

]]>It’s been a while since The Stones have given us an album we’d enjoy listening to on repeat, but Hackney Diamonds proves they’ve still got it. From the very first track “Angry”, which they teased with a viral music video starring Euphoria’s Sydney Sweeney, it’s pretty clear they mean business – and it turns out that the best is yet to come.
Over the course of the next 11 tracks, your attention will never weaver, as Hackney Diamonds takes you back to the band’s glory days. Producer Andrew Watt deserves a lot of credit for bringing the best out of the band that’s been around for decades and could’ve easily lost their shine if it wasn’t for his bold direction.
From “Whole Wide World” and “Bite My Head Off” to “Mess It Up” and “Driving Me Too Hard”, Hackney Diamonds has no-miss tracks, but The Stones saved the best for last. The album’s spectacular gospel-inspired anthem “Sweet Sounds of Heaven” featuring Lady Gaga and Stevie Wonder clocks at seven minutes, but never feels too long and delivers a powerful closing before the acoustic cover of “Rolling Stone Blues” draws the curtain on Hackney Diamonds.
Hackney Diamonds could’ve easily been a novelty record by another washed-up classic rock band trying to sell more concert tickets, but it’s anything but. The Rolling Stones are definitely back, and this album cements their legacy as all-time greats while keeping their sound fresh.

Our list includes several more fantastic collaborations, including The Rolling Stones’ “Sweet Sounds Of Heaven” ft. Lady Gaga & Stevie Wonder, Jung Kook’s “3D” ft. Jack Harlow, and Empress Of’s “Kiss Me” ft. Rina Sawayama. *NSYNC’s comeback single “Better Place” and Bad Bunny’s viral hit “Un Preview” also made the cut, so stick around to hear them out.

]]>No album this week created more buzz than Olivia Rodrigo’s highly-anticipated sophomore effort Guts. Each song from this brilliant LP became a fan favorite in its own right, but we’ve picked “All-American B—h” as the album’s best new track.
Competing with Rodrigo for the top spot on the next week’s chart is a mission impossible, but that didn’t stop several artists from trying. Friday also marked the release of new albums by Tinashe, Laufey, and James Blake, among others, and we made room for some of their best new songs on this week’s list.
This week also marked a huge comeback for the legendary rockers The Rolling Stones. They teased the release of their first album of the original material in almost two decades, titled Hackney Diamonds, and dropped its first single “Angry”.
