The Rolling Stones knocked it out of the park with Hackney Diamonds, and they reached another milestone with their latest album. After topping the Official UK Album chart with this record following its release, the legendary rock band returned to No. 1 just in time for Christmas!

When it was initially released on October 20, Hackney Diamonds easily soared to No. 1 in the UK, outselling the rest of the top five combined. It repeated its success on December 22, when it returned for its second consecutive week at No. 1.

“It’s a wonderful way to round off 2023. Thank you to everyone for listening to Hackney Diamonds. Have a very happy Christmas and New Year!” said The Rolling Stones in a statement.

It’s quite an achievement for The Rolling Stones to return to No. 1 during a week dominated by holiday-themed releases. Michael Bublé’s seasonal staple Christmas holds steady at No. 2, and it’s joined by Cher’s Christmas, which rose to its brand-new peak at No. 5.

The legendary rock band promoted the release of Hackney Diamonds with singles “Angry”, “Sweet Sounds of Heaven”, and “Mess It Up”, and they’re planning to embark on a tour across North America next spring. They also release a deluxe live edition of the album on December 15.

It’s been two decades since The Rolling Stones dropped their last album of new material – and it feels like they’ve never left. Their latest album Hackney Diamonds is an amazing return to form and it’s set to introduce the rock legends to a whole new generation of fans.

It’s been a while since The Stones have given us an album we’d enjoy listening to on repeat, but Hackney Diamonds proves they’ve still got it. From the very first track “Angry”, which they teased with a viral music video starring Euphoria’s Sydney Sweeney, it’s pretty clear they mean business – and it turns out that the best is yet to come.

Over the course of the next 11 tracks, your attention will never weaver, as Hackney Diamonds takes you back to the band’s glory days. Producer Andrew Watt deserves a lot of credit for bringing the best out of the band that’s been around for decades and could’ve easily lost their shine if it wasn’t for his bold direction.

From “Whole Wide World” and “Bite My Head Off” to “Mess It Up” and “Driving Me Too Hard”, Hackney Diamonds has no-miss tracks, but The Stones saved the best for last. The album’s spectacular gospel-inspired anthem “Sweet Sounds of Heaven” featuring Lady Gaga and Stevie Wonder clocks at seven minutes, but never feels too long and delivers a powerful closing before the acoustic cover of “Rolling Stone Blues” draws the curtain on Hackney Diamonds.

Hackney Diamonds could’ve easily been a novelty record by another washed-up classic rock band trying to sell more concert tickets, but it’s anything but. The Rolling Stones are definitely back, and this album cements their legacy as all-time greats while keeping their sound fresh.

September has given us more amazing songs than we can count, and we’re ending it on a high note. From The Rolling Stones and Lady Gaga to Bad Bunny and Jorja Smith, this week saw some of our favorite artists surprise us with brand-new music, making their way to our list of the best songs of the week.

This week also marked the release of Jorja Smith’s highly-anticipated new album Falling or Flying, which had several amazing songs fighting for our attention, including “Broken is the Man”. Becky G’s new LP Esquinas also swept us off our feet and gave us several amazing tunes, including “2ndo Chance” ft. Ivan Cornejo.

Our list includes several more fantastic collaborations, including The Rolling Stones’ “Sweet Sounds Of Heaven” ft. Lady Gaga & Stevie Wonder, Jung Kook’s “3D” ft. Jack Harlow, and Empress Of’s “Kiss Me” ft. Rina Sawayama. *NSYNC’s comeback single “Better Place” and Bad Bunny’s viral hit “Un Preview” also made the cut, so stick around to hear them out.

October is just around the corner, and our favorite artists are kicking it off on a high note! Many of the year’s most-anticipated albums are set to hit the shelves this month, and here are five we’ll be listening to on repeat in the next few weeks.

Drake – For All the Dogs (October 8)

Drake delayed the release of For All the Dogs several times, but he’s finally ready to share it with the world. He did a great job setting the stage for this album with the chart-topping single “Slime You Out” ft. SZA.

Troye Sivan – Something to Give Each Other (October 13)

Troye Sivan knocked us off our feet with his recent viral hit “Rush” and its follow-up “Got Me Started” got us even more hyped up for his third studio album Something to Give Each Other.

The Rolling Stones – Hackney Diamonds (October 20)

It’s been almost two decades since The Rolling Stones released their last album of the original material, but they’ll be back with the star-studded Hackney Diamonds this October.

Blink-182 – One More Time… (October 20)

The classic line-up of Blink-182 reunited for the band’s latest studio album One More Time…, which will see them reflecting on some of the personal struggles they survived by each other’s side.

Taylor Swift – 1989 (Taylor’s Version) (October 27)

Taylor Swift’s album 1989 gave us some of her biggest hits, such as “Blank Space”, “Shake It Off”, and “Bad Blood”—and its re-recorded version is just around the corner!

Our favorite artists have been busy in the studio all summer long and decided to end this season with a bang. This week gave us several highly-anticipated albums and brought new music by Olivia Rodrigo, The Rolling Stones, Tinashe, and many more our way.

No album this week created more buzz than Olivia Rodrigo’s highly-anticipated sophomore effort Guts. Each song from this brilliant LP became a fan favorite in its own right, but we’ve picked “All-American B—h” as the album’s best new track.

Competing with Rodrigo for the top spot on the next week’s chart is a mission impossible, but that didn’t stop several artists from trying. Friday also marked the release of new albums by Tinashe, Laufey, and James Blake, among others, and we made room for some of their best new songs on this week’s list.

This week also marked a huge comeback for the legendary rockers The Rolling Stones. They teased the release of their first album of the original material in almost two decades, titled Hackney Diamonds, and dropped its first single “Angry”.

Our list of the best songs of the week also includes new music by Metric, Portugal. The Man, Marshmello, Dove Cameron, and many more, so stick around and give them a chance!

The Rolling Stones – Angry

Olivia Rodrigo – All-American B—h

Tinashe – Uh Huh

Laufey – Lovesick

Marshmello, Dove Cameron – Other Boys

Metric – Who Would You Be For Me

V – Slow Dancing

Portugal. The Man – Doubt

The Struts – Rockstar

James Blake – Tell Me

Shortly after teasing their next album via a cryptic newspaper ad, The Rolling Stones finally made things official! They confirmed the release of their upcoming LP Hackney Diamonds via an epic livestream event and gave us a taste of things to come with the first single “Angry”.

Band members Mick Jagger, Keith Richards, and Ronnie Wood joined forces with Jimmy Fallon for a livestream event from the Hackney Empire Theatre in London. They officially announced that Hackney Diamonds will hit the shelves on October 20, and shared more crucial information about this record.

The Rolling Stones also unveiled the music video for the album’s lead single “Angry” starring Sydney Sweeney. The Euphoria star said she freaked out after the band asked her to be in the music video for this song and described it as “the biggest thing ever”.

Hackney Diamonds marks the band’s first studio album of original material in almost two decades, and Mick Jagger said they’ve only decided to share it with the world because they’re really proud of it.

“I don’t want to be big-headed but we wouldn’t have put this album out if we hadn’t really liked it. We said we had to make a record we really love ourselves. We are quite pleased with it, we are not big-headed about it, but we hope you all like it,” explained Jagger.

Most modern artists rely on the power of social media to tease their new music, but not The Rolling Stones. The legendary rock band seemingly teased the release of their next studio album Hackney Diamonds with a cryptic ad in a local newspaper.

Instead of relying on modern means of promotion, The Rolling Stones turned to the Hackney Gazette to get their message across. A recent ad in this magazine promotes a local business Hackney Diamonds, described as “specialists in glass repair”, and features multiple references to the beloved rock band.

In addition to featuring The Rolling Stones’ iconic tongue logo, the ad in question also pays homage to several of their iconic songs. “Our friendly team promises you satisfaction. When you say gimme shelter we’ll fix your shattered windows,” the ad reads, hinting at the band’s smash hits “(I Can’t Get No) Satisfaction”, “Gimme Shelter” and “Shattered”.

The ad also mentions that Hackney Diamonds was established in 1962 – the year of The Rolling Stones’ foundation. The band’s passionate fans also noticed that the font for Hackney Diamonds was previously used on their 1978 album Some Girls.

The Rolling Stones are yet to confirm the release of their next studio album, but the ad suggests they’ll drop new music this September.

Tinashe – Uh Huh
