The post Metallica’s Robert Trujillo Explains Why They Changed the Setlist for “M72” Tour appeared first on Hot Pop Today.
]]>Metallica’s latest tour saw them perform two dates with completely different setlists in almost every city, and that wasn’t a coincidence. Trujillo recently revealed they noticed that the opening minutes of their concerts weren’t impactfully enough, so they needed to introduce a few tweaks to the setlist.
“Initially, we thought it would be really clever and exciting to open the show with an instrumental… We found that an instrumental is very powerful for the set but it sits much better in the middle of a set, it’s a chance for the fan to absorb and embrace the song,” Trujillo told Classic Rock.
They opted to open the shows with instrumentals such as “Orion” and “The Call of Ktulu” before moving on to more electrifying songs because they didn’t want to come out with “something that kind of smacks you in the face”, according to Trujillo.
This strategy certainly worked, and they’ll get to chance to experiment with the setlist again once they go back to touring this spring.

]]>Motörhead recorded “Enter Sandman” as part of the compilation for the 1998 ECW Wrestling event. The cover was met with positive reactions from fans and critics and even received a nomination at the 42nd Annual Grammy Awards in the Best Metal Performance category. However, various legal disputes prevented the track from making its official digital release debut until now.
Motörhead’s “Enter Sandman” cover also received an animated music video directed by Mulberry Creative. The video features the band’s iconic Warpig mascot saving a child from an evil sandman.
“This is Motörhead’s little heard cover of Metallica’s huge global hit, ‘Enter Sandman’ – a loving homage to arguably the most recognizable heavy metal song of all time,” it says in the release.
The digital release of the “Enter Sandman” cover aligns with Motörhead Day, which is celebrated annually on May 8. As part of the festivities, the band is also releasing a limited-edition 7″ vinyl of the track and accompanying merchandise, which can be purchased on the band’s official website.

]]>This has been an amazing week for female-centric hip-hop remixes, the likes of which we haven’t seen since “Savage” and “Say So” remixes hit the shelves around the same time in 2020. This time around, the remix wars are fought between “Kill Bill” by SZA ft. Doja Cat and “Princess Diana” by Ice Spice ft. Nicki Minaj – and we’re all winners here.
As for the new album releases this week, Metallica’s 72 Seasons will certainly make the biggest mark, and we made sure to include its latest single “Sleepwalk My Life Away”. Angel Olsen also impressed us with her latest EP Forever Means and its title song.
It’s also been a great week for pop music, with Kelly Clarkson making a comeback with double single “Mine/Me” and Céline Dion impressing us with a new song from Love Again soundtrack. Even Post Malone made a shift to pop with his new song “Chemical”, and used it to tease his fifth studio album.
