He also received nominations for the best melodic rap performance for “Sittin’ on Top of the World” ft. 21 Savage, best global music performance for “Alone”, and best African music performance for “City Boys”.
Scott is also one of this year’s nominees, with his latest album Utopia. ]]>Combs’ first album, This One’s For You was released in 2017 at it was No. 1 on the Top Country Albums Chart for 50 weeks, tying Shania Twain’s Come on Over, which set the record for the longest reign on the chart in 1997. Although this album was a huge success in the country music world, Combs’ 2019 album, She Is What You Get not only broke the record for the biggest streaming week for a country album, but it went on to become his first No. 1 on the Billboard 200 albums chart.
The country singer’s success didn’t stop there, he was also named the male vocalist of the year at the 2019 CMAs and his first seven singles reached No. 1 on the Country Airplay chart.
Prior to his show this past Thursday, Combs, Billboard’s Top Country Artist of 2019, reminisced about his amazing year and said, “I’ve tried so many things in my life. So many different hobbies and interests and jobs. Singing was the first thing where I was like, ‘Oh man, I think I could get a lot better at this.’ But I think there’s a lot of people that don’t ever find the thing that they feel they’re good at. When you find that thing, it’s really important to expand on your affinity towards whatever it may be.”

]]>Combs’ second studio album came out on November 8th, and its success on the chart isn’t only a triumph for the “Hurricane” singer, but also for country music as a whole. With 172,000 equivalent album units earned in the U.S. during the first week, What You See Is What You Get had the largest week for a country album in over a year.
This record also had the biggest streaming week ever for a country album, and the Billboard 200 isn’t the only chart where it debuted at no. 1. It also reached that spot in Australia and Canada, in addition to topping the Billboard Top Country Albums chart.
Combs’ latest album gave us hit singles “Beer Never Broke My Heart” and “Even Though I’m Leaving” and the singer is promoting it with a North American tour.

]]>Combs emerged onto the scene with his 2017 debut album This One’s For You, but it was with the singles of his upcoming album What You See Is What You Get, which will come out in November, that he soared to real heights. Five of his songs are currently featured in Billboard’s Hot Country Songs Top 25. The last person to have accomplished that? The late Johnny Cash, all the way back in 1959!
Although Combs hasn’t yet hit the road for his 2019 Beer Never Broke My Heart tour, all shows but one have been sold out. This is no doubt what prompted the singer to announce dates for his 2020. Locations announced now are Missouri, Illinois, Pennsylvania, Kentucky, Michigan, New Mexico, Colorado, and Texas.
And as if things weren’t going super already, Combs has three nominations at the 2019 CMA awards: Song of the Year for “Beautiful Crazy”, Musical Event of the Year and Male Vocalist of the year.
The only question on our mind is what’s less likely: Luke Combs winning all three awards, or us scoring a ticket to his 2020 shows before they sell out? Only time will tell…
