]]>The Age of Pleasure will mark Monáe’s first album in five years, and she told Apple Music 1’s Zane Lowe that the songs on this album were written from “such an honest space” because she had the opportunity to evolve and grow and to tap into the things that bring her pleasure.
Monáe ushered in a new era with her latest single “Lipstick Lover”, and this track perfectly encapsulates the vibe of the entire album.
“As we enter into The Age Of Pleasure, ‘Lipstick Lover’ is our freea—mothaf—a anthem inspired by f.a.m. for f.a.m. This is our oasis made with love, rooted in self-acceptance, throbbing in self-discovery, and signed with cherry red kisses from me to you,” she said in a statement.
The Age of Pleasure will be released on June 9 via Atlantic Records, and it marks the singer’s first studio album since Dirty Computer in 2018. The standard edition will feature a total of 14 tracks, including “Lipstick Lover” and “Float” featuring Seun Kuti and Egypt 80.

]]>Lana Del Rey introduced us to her own signature sound on her debut album, which featured some of her biggest hits to date, including “Born to Die” and “Video Games.”
Billie Eilish’s first LP is one of the latest additions to this list, but it received more acclaim than any other debut record over the course of the past ten years.
Bruno Mars is one of the most recognizable R&B stars in the world right now, but he was still a newcomer in 2010 when his debut album gave us such breakout hits as “The Lazy Song” and “Marry You.”
Lorde was only 16 when her signature single “Royals” hit no. 1 on the charts around the world, and it was only one of many amazing tracks on her first studio record.
Janelle Monáe has been forging her own path on the R&B scene for an entire decade, and it all started with her first album The ArchAndroid, which received widespread acclaim from the critics in 2010.

]]>Monáe is joining the ranks of Stormzy and Kylie Minogue, who have been previously announced as headliners. This won’t be her first time performing at Glastonbury, but she’s never been the main attraction before.
“We have got Janelle Monáe headlining the West Holts stage. When she last played in 2015 was incredible, that show really was brilliant. You could have watched it with the sound off, and it really would have been incredible. It will be quite a moment,” said Glastonbury co-organizer Emily Eavis.
The 2019 edition of Glastonbury Festival will take place at Worthy Farm between June 26 and June 30. The date of Monáe’s concert is yet to be announced, but at this point, we do know that Stormzy and Kylie Minogue will be performing on June 28 and June 30, respectively.

Obama also took a moment at the end of his list to honor jazz legend Nancy Wilson, who passed away a couple weeks ago. Wilson recorded more than 70 albums and won three Grammy Awards over the course of her amazing career spanning over five decades.

All women are queens in their own right, no matter how they look or how old they are – and Jessie J reminded us of this with her girl power anthem.
It would be ridiculous to make this list without mentioning Janelle Monáe’s name. Any of the songs from her latest album Dirty Computer could easily make the cut, but there’s just something about “I Like That” that sets it apart.
Christina Aguilera gave us another feminist anthem with this powerful tune, and Demi Lovato was by her side every step of the way.
Girls Like You may seem like the more obvious choice, but Cardi B really proved herself as an empowering voice for women with the last track on her debut album Invasion of Privacy.
