Corey Taylor was supposed to tour all across North America this year, but his plans have changed. The lead vocalist of Slipknot decided to cancel his upcoming solo tour dates because his mental and physical health “have been breaking down”.

Taylor took to social media to announce the cancelation of his North American tour. He explained that he’s been in a bad place both mentally and physically for the past several months, adding he’s reached a place that’s unhealthy for him and his family.

“I know this decision will come as a shock to some and may be regarded as unpopular by others – but after taking a hard look at where I am and where I was going, I need to pull myself back and be home with my family for the time being,” he wrote on social media.

Taylor took a moment to apologize to his fans and send them his love, adding that everyone who bought tickets and VIP packages would get a full refund.

Despite canceling his solo tour dates, Corey’s upcoming 25th anniversary tour with Slipknot is expected to go on. It includes a series of dates across Europe in December, including concerts in Amsterdam, Paris, Manchester, and London.

Many bands have tons of amazing unreleased music that they’ve been sitting on for years and Slipknot is no exception. The band’s frontman Corey Taylor recently shared an exciting update about the release of their “lost” album Look Outside Your Window.

Slipknot recorded this album while working on their 2008 album All Hope Is Gone, and they’ve mentioned it on countless occasions over the years. The potential release of this record was always lurking on the horizon, and they almost dropped it as a Christmas surprise for their fans in 2019, but eventually decided against it.

In a recent interview with NME, Taylor mentioned Look Outside Your Window again and said they’ll most likely release it next year. He described it as Slipknot’s “long-lost album” and said it contains some of his favorite melodies with the band.

“I just went back and listened to all that stuff and it’s so dope and so different. People going into this thinking it sounds like ‘Slipknot’ Slipknot are so wrong. It doesn’t sound like anything Slipknot have ever done, that’s why it’s its own thing,” said Taylor.

Slipknot’s latest studio album The End, So Far hit the shelves last year and debuted at no. 2 on the Billboard 200 chart.

Due to COVID-19-related restrictions, Corey Taylor isn’t able to mark the release of his debut solo album CMFT with a proper live show. But that doesn’t mean the Slipknot frontman won’t try to get as close to that as possible.

Taylor recently announced that he will promote CMFT with a Livestream show that will take place at Los Angeles’ iconic music venue The Forum. The gig is set for October 2nd, the day that the album drops, with the Livestream being available on Taylor’s official website. However, in order to access it, you’ll have to purchase a ticket.

According to the official press release, the Forum Or Against Em gig will see Taylor playing CMFT in its entirety while also supplementing the setlist with covers and songs from Slipknot and Stone Sour.

“I’ve been saying since the beginning I’d find a way to bring this music and this band to the people,” said Taylor about the event. “And I’m honored that The Forum let us do just that. It’s ‘CMFT’ in its entirety. It’s songs I’ve shared over the years. It’s a celebration, and I’m so stoked to party with all of you.”

Corey Taylor announced CMFT back in July, revealing that the record will contain the songs he written in various periods of his life, from his teens until now. Taylor already shared three singles from the record, including “CMFT Must Be Stopped,” “Black Eyes Blue,” and “Hwy 666.”

Slipknot’s vocalist Corey Taylor recently shared some tough news for fans of his side project Stone Sour. According to Taylor, who fronted the American rockers from 2002 until now, Stone Sour “has kinda run its course for now.”

Things looked good for Stone Sour in recent years, with the band releasing their sixth studio album Hydrograd in 2017 and following that up with live LP Hello, You Bastards: Live in Reno last year. However, it appears this will be all for now as Taylor confirmed that the group is on “indefinite hiatus” during his appearance on Neil Griffiths’ podcast The Green Room.

“I feel like Stone Sour has kinda run its course for now,” said Taylor. “We all talked as a band and decided to kinda put Stone Sour in indefinite hiatus. That’s the way it is.”

Corey Taylor hinted this kind of outcome back in June when he said that the Stone Sour bandmembers are” focused on kind of doing our own thing.”

For Taylor, that thing was his debut solo album CMFT. The record will be out on October 2nd and will feature some new songs, but also tracks that he has written in his teens.

Being a frontman of one of metal’s most popular bands in recent decades, Slipknot’s Corey Taylor should know a thing or two about the genre’s future. And according to him, bands like Knocked Loose, Ho99o9, and Code Orange will be an important part of it.

In a recent interview with BBC 6 Music Taylor said that the trendsetting acts would come from the underground scene and then singled out several bands he thinks have a bright future ahead of them.

“I think the underground is always gonna be healthy. Because that’s where the majority of trendsetters, the cutting-edge artists come from,” said Taylor. “Whether it’s bands like Knocked Loose or…there’s this fantastic band called Ho99o9, which is like hip hop, metal, hardcore: they dabble in so many genres. And they’re so good.”

Taylor also recommended Code Orange for those who are more into “darker-edged stuff,” while adding that Rival Sons and Royal Blood are some of his favorite bands from the last 10 years.

Check out the part of the interview below.

Corey Taylor is currently touring the world with Slipknot in support of their 2019’s album We Are Not Your Kind. According to recent reports, the band is already working on a follow-up, titled Look Outside Your Window, but the release date is still to be determined.

Corey Taylor made a name for himself as a member of Slipknot and Stone Sour, but he’s ready to spread his wings and drop his first solo album. It seems like he’s on a great path so far, and he’s already written dozens of songs for this record.

Taylor recently discussed his solo project with What Culture and admitted he developed 26 brand-new songs, and he’s not even close to being done. The Stone Sour frontman enjoyed building the momentum for a potential solo run, and has a clear vision for this project.

“It’s definitely going to be rock-based, but it’s going to be rock meets so many different things. There will be harder-edged stuff, but there also will be big, expansive, huge, world-changing guitar songs that you’re going to want to sing along to,” Corey Taylor told What Culture.

The release date of this record is still not in sight, and Taylor’s schedule will be pretty packed for some time. He’s currently touring with Slipknot, supporting their latest album We Are Not Your Kind, in addition to getting ready to release new live album with Stone Sour on December 13th.

Besides working on a new album and gearing for a tour with Slipknot, vocalist Corey Taylor also manages to find time for solo shows. Taylor recently performed a solo gig at Garden Grove’s Gardenamp and treated the audience with an exciting set containing several interesting covers, including David Bowie‘s “Moonage Daydream.”

Luckily for all of us who missed the show, one fan managed to capture Taylor’s rendition of “Moonage Daydream” on camera and shared it on YouTube. You can check out the video below.

Alongside Bowie’s classic, Taylor also played a number of other notable covers during his show including Black Flag’s “Rise Above,” Prince’s Cream, Poison’s “Nothin’ but a Good Time,” and INXS’ “Don’t Change.”

“Moonage Daydream” was first released in 1971 as a single from David Bowie-fronted band Arnold Corns. Bowie later decided to re-record the track with his backing band The Spiders from Mars for 1972’s album The Rise and Fall of Ziggy Stardust and the Spiders from Mars, making it one of the more important pieces in the album’s story arc. The song has since become one of Bowie’s most notable works and was covered on previous occasions by numerous artists including The Chameleons, Beth Ditto, and Ann Magnuson.

Corey Taylor has decided to share some details with eager fans about the Slipknot’s highly anticipated new album. Taylor revealed that the band is, in fact, working on a new record, their first since 2014’s .5: The Gray Chapter, but that the new songs are currently in the demo stages.

“I have fantastic news,” Slipknot’s vocalist told Kerrang! at the Q&A session ahead of Kerrang! Awards 2018. “Some of you know, but I’ll just make it official right now: we are working on a new album. It’s only in the demo stages right now, however we have very serious, tentative plans – and I say that because the best way to make God laugh is to announce your plans out loud – to go into the studio at the beginning of next year and get this f***ing going.”

He also revealed some further details, saying that the release will be “Iowa levels of heavy.”

“We have 16 songs written right now, and they are f***ing dangerous,” Taylor continued. “I loved .5 [The Gray Chapter], but this album, to me, makes .5 look like nobody’s business. This is Iowa levels of heavy. And I have to go out and tour this s**t at my age – I can feel those songs in my back! I am really, really excited about it, and I talk to the guys in Slipknot all the time.”

You can check out Corey Taylor’s full Q&A session with Kerrang! below.

Slipknot’s last album, .5: The Gray Chapter, met with critical acclaim and debuted at number one on the US Billboard 200 while receiving several Grammy Awards. Making the album proved to be the last effort with the band for Joey Jordison, founding member and drummer, who left the Slipknot in 2013.
