]]>For All the Dogs hit the shelves on October 6, and easily climbed to the top of the Billboard 200 chart, with 402,000 album-equivalent units sold during its first week. With 13 No. 1 albums in the US, Drake is just one LP away from passing Jay-Z, but it will take some time before he comes even close to The Beatles with 19 No. 1 albums.
All of 23 tracks from For All the Dogs made it to the Billboard Hot 100 chart this week, with seven debuting in the top ten alone! “First Person Shooter” ft. J. Cole hit No. 1, becoming his 13th chart-leader, helping Drake tie Michael Jackson for the most No. 1 hits among solo male acts.
The success of For All the Dogs also helped Drake become the first act with over 300 Hot 100 entries (320) and set or extend several more records – most No. 1 debuts (nine), top five hits (41), top 10 hits (76), top 20 hits (132), and top 40 hits (199).

]]>Morissette will receive the Icon Award for her extraordinary accomplishments in the music industry, joining the ranks of Aretha Franklin and Shania Twain. Minaj will be honored with a Game Changer Award, for becoming the first female artist with 100 appearances on the Billboard Hot 100 chart.
Brandi Carlile will receive the Trailblazer Award, for using her platform to speak out for underprivileged groups in society. They’ll be joined by Roc Nation chief operating officer Desiree Perez, who’ll collect the Executive of the Year Award.
These four trailblazing women may be honored for different reasons, but they all have at least one thing in common, according to Billboard editorial director Hannah Karp. “Billboard’s Women in Music is an annual opportunity for us to celebrate undeniably influential women from across the industry. This year, with honorees like Alanis Morisette, Brandi Carlile, Desiree Perez, and Nicki Minaj, we are excited to highlight a diverse group of women pushing limits and breaking boundaries,” Karp said in a statement.
This year’s Billboard “Women in Music” event will stream live from the Hollywood Palladium on December 12th, with Hayley Kiyoko serving as the host.

]]>The Hot 100 triumph of this song was a long time coming, but we seriously doubted if it’s ever going to happen. “Old Town Road” by Lil Nas X and Billy Ray Cyrus has been ruling the chart for 19 consecutive weeks, before finally being stopped by Billie Eilish’s “Bad Guy” last week.
It didn’t take long for that to change as the no. 1 spot now belongs to Shawn Mendes and Camila Cabello – and they couldn’t be happier about it!
“I’m so excited about the success of ‘Señorita’ and thank you so much to our incredible fans who made this all a reality. We really put everything into this song and couldn’t have wished for more,” said Mendes in a statement.
Cabello echoed his words by thanking fans and said she’s happy to share this moment with Mendes. The duo previously collaborated on 2016 single “I Know What You Did Last Summer”.

]]>DNA was released on January 23, but Backstreet Boys knew they have another hit on their hands long before it hit the shelves. Lead single “Don’t Go Breaking My Heart” proved to be one of their biggest success stories and the band even received their first Grammy nod since 2002 thanks to this catchy track.
DNA is the first album they released in six years, and each member poured their heart and soul into the final product. Kevin Richardson explained this record perfectly reflects who they are, and that’s why they decided to go with this symbolic title.
“We were able to bring all of our influences and styles into one coherent piece of work. These songs are a great representation of who we are as individuals and who we are as a group. It’s our DNA. We’re really proud of that,” said Richardson.

]]>A Brief Inquiry Into Online Relationships was released on November 30 to rave reviews and gave us several hit singles, including “Give Yourself a Try” and “Sincerity Is Scary.” It’s been barely a month since this album hit the shelves, but the band is already working on their follow-up.
Notes On A Conditional Form is scheduled for 31 May 2019 release and frontman Matty Healy said it contains some of the best lyrics he’s ever written. He admitted it’s a bit scary to release two albums back to back, but they’re doing it anyway!
“My only fear is that because I’ve put this umbrella over both albums, they’ll be perceived as intrinsically connected. But that was never my intention. I’m just making records. I’ve gotta always want to be making my masterpiece. Otherwise, what’s the point?” said Healy.
The 1975 might’ve dropped the most exciting rock album of the year, but it wasn’t the only one worth the listen. Mitski took the no. 2 spot with Be the Cowboy, while indie band Foxing finished third thanks to their latest album Nearer My God.
