The first Coachella weekend featured many surprise appearances, and Lana Del Rey welcomed one of the festival’s most exciting special guests on stage. Billie Eilish joined her for an emotional cover of her own breakout hit “Ocean Eyes”.

Del Rey is one of the artists headlining Coachella this year, and she had a perfect partner in crime during the festival’s opening night. Eilish joined her for a magical performance of her hit song “Ocean Eyes”, which came out in 2016 as a part of her debut EP Don’t Smile at Me.

Del Rey thanked Eilish for hitting the Coachella stage by her side, and described her as the voice of a generation, adding that “Ocean Eyes” is her favorite song by Eilish.

Eilish has been very vocal about her admiration for Del Rey long before joining her at Coachella. She interviewed her for Interview Magazine just last year and opened up about Del Rey’s impact on her music.

“You really paved the way for everyone. People have been trying to look and sound like you since you first started. I talk about this with Finneas [O’Connell]. You changed the way the music industry hears and sees music, and you changed the way people sing,” Eilish told Del Rey.

Olivia Rodrigo’s Guts World Tour is a true treat for her fans, and she brought out one of her favorite artists during a recent concert. Noah Kahan joined the Grammy-winning singer for an electrifying duet of his hit song “Stick Season”.

Rodrigo embarked on the Guts World Tour back in February and performed a series of concerts across North America. The tour included four dates at Madison Square Garden in New York City, and Noah Kahan hit the stage by Rodrigo’s side during one of the concerts.

The duo delivered an acoustic guitar version of Kahan’s breakout hit “Stick Season”, which became a viral hit in recent months and hit No. 1 in the UK. Kahan later took to social media to thank Rodrigo for inviting him to join her on stage, and described her as “a special talent”.

This isn’t the first time Rodrigo and Kahan expressed their admiration for each other. She previously performed a cover of “Stick Season” on the BBC Radio 1 Live Lounge, and Kahan returned the favor by delivering an emotional cover of her song “Lacy” during his appearance on the same show.

Two covers were released on a seven-inch colored vinyl as a Record Store Day special, and Rodrigo said she’s hoping for a collaboration with Kahan because she thinks he’s “very inspiring”.

Paramore caused quite a concern among their fans when they removed all of the content on their social media and shut down their official website in December. However, it appears that the band isn’t planning on riding into the sunset just yet.

The Hayley Williams-fronted band returned to social media this week, posting a preview of their cover of Talking Heads “Burning Down The House”. The track will be part of the upcoming A Stop Making Sense: A Tribute Album, which will see 16 music acts covering 16 songs from Talking Heads’ extensive catalog.

In one of the previous interviews, Williams hinted at the existence of the cover by saying that Paramore recorded a track from David Byrne, Talking Heads frontman.

“All I’m going to say is it’s insane. It’s incredible. It’s unreal. And hopefully, it won’t be too long before we get to share it,” said Williams at the time.

After presenting their critically acclaimed sixth studio album, This Is Why, in early 2023 and wrapping up the promotional tour for the release, Paramore said that their future as a band is clouded by a “level of uncertainty.” This prompted fans to view their social media clean-up as a sign that the group was breaking up.

However, Variety later reported that Paramore plans to record a new album and that deleting the social media content represents a fresh start after the band parted ways with their recording company, Atlantic Records.

Christine & The Queens has breathe new life into The Bee Gees’ classic track “Stayin’ Alive.” The French singer-songwriter just shared a cover of the 1977 disco hit, giving it an intriguing pop-leaning makeover but keeping the contagious energy of the original.

Christine & The Queens initially covered a pair of The Bee Gees tracks, “Stayin’ Alive” and “Night Fever,” during a performance at the Cannes Film Festival back in the summer. The performance became a talking point on social media, encouraging the “Tilted” singer to do a proper studio rendition of “Stayin’ Alive.”

The cover also comes with a music video, which was shot in Venice over the course of a couple of days and directed by Christine & The Queens.

“Made in a few days, in an emergency with fabulous friends, generous strangers, the inhabitants of Venice the beautiful, this is our fond farewell to 2023 our PUNK gesture for a better future, see you soon, Chris,” they said in press release shared alongside the video.

Christine & The Queens released its fourth studio album, Paranoia, Angels, True Love, back in March. The record, which consists of 3 LPs, was met with widespread critical acclaim and referred to as a “masterpiece” by some reviewers.

Amazing things happen whenever Miley Cyrus decides to cover one of her favorite songs, and she recently put an epic twist on one of Journey’s all-time classics. She delivered an electrifying cover of their power ballad “Faithfully” during a recent performance at the Chateau Marmont.

Cyrus delivered an intimate performance at the legendary West Hollywood hotel during the holidays, and her own songs weren’t the only ones to make the setlist. The Grammy-nominated singer is no stranger to amazing covers, and she decided to put her own twist on Journey’s “Faithfully” this time around.

The singer joked that “Dave Grohl is coming out of the Christmas tree for the drums” before telling the audience they know the words to the song because “there are none”. “Faithfully” famously had no chorus, but that didn’t stop it from becoming one of Journey’s biggest hits following its release in 1983.

This isn’t Cyrus’ first performance at the Chateau Marmont. She also hit the stage at the iconic hotel last month and delivered the first live performance of her smash hit “Flowers”. This song was released as the lead single from her latest studio album Endless Summer Vacation, and is currently in the running for the record and song of the year at the upcoming Grammy Awards.

The Libertines paid tribute to late The Pogues’ frontman Shane MacGowan with a cover of “Fairytale Of New York”.

The indie rockers first published a video on their Instagram earlier this week that shows guitarists/vocalists Pete Doherty and Carl Barât singing the 1988 track in their rehearsal studio.

“RIP Shane, this one’s for you matey x,” the band captioned the video.

Several days later, The Libertines posted a second video, this time featuring the entire band, which also consists of bassist John Hassall and drummer Gary Powell, doing a rendition of “Fairy Tale Of New York” during one of their live shows.

“Another one for Shane x,” the caption stated.

Shane MacGowan passed away on November 30th due to complications from pneumonia. He was widely considered one of the best lyricists of his generation and respected by many of his peers, including Nick Cave, Bruce Springsteen, and Bob Dylan, all of whom paid their tributes to MacGowan in recent weeks.

The Libertines are currently gearing for the release of their new album, All Quiet on the Eastern Esplanade, with a series of intimate live shows. The record will be their fourth studio effort and the first release since 2015’s Anthems for Doomed Youth.

We can count on Måneskin to knock it out of the park whenever they decide to cover one of our favorite rock classics, and they’ve done it once again! The Italian band paid homage to Oasis with an electrifying cover of “Don’t Look Back in Anger” during a recent concert in Manchester.

Måneskin’s Rush! World Tour concluded at the AO Arena in Manchester, UK on December 19, and they marked the occasion in the best way possible. The Italian quartet surprised the audience by paying tribute to one of the most popular bands to come out of Manchester – Oasis.

“This f—ing city gave birth to a lot of very, very good artists. But there’s one in particular which is pretty nice. We’re sure that if one day [they] see this cover, they’re gonna think it’s f—ng trash,” said Måneskin’s Damiano David, poking fun at Liam and Noel Gallagher’s tendency to bad-mouth both the other artists and their own band.

Måneskin’s Rush! World Tour included 30 dates across five continents, before concluding in Manchester. The Italian band embarked on a tour in support of their third studio album Rush!, which came out earlier this year and produced a reissue titled Rush! (Are U Coming?), which hit the shelves on November 10.

Alanis Morissette recently appeared on The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon and used the opportunity to deliver a live rendition of Wham!’s 1984 classic track “Last Christmas”.

Morissette is currently promoting her EP Last Christmas, which came out in early November. Besides the title track, the release also saw Canadian singer/songwriter cover Harry Simeone Chorale’s “The Little Drummer Boy”, traditional Christmas carol “What Child Is This?”, and John Lennon’s “Happy Xmas (War Is Over)”.

Wham! originally released “Last Christmas” as a single in 1984. The track, written by George Michael, was a massive hit and remains one of the most popular Christmas songs ever. It was previously covered by a number of high-profile music acts, including Taylor Swift, Ariana Grande, and the Backstreet Boys.

Alanis Morissette’s most recent full album was 2022’s The Storm Before the Calm. The record saw Morissette move away from her recognizable style and venture into meditation and ambient music. It received generally positive reviews from the critics.

Morissette is currently preparing to hit the road in 2024 for The Triple Moon Tour. The trip will see the singer play 20 shows between June and August, with Joan Jett and the Blackhearts and Morgan Wade joining her as special guests.

Billie Eilish gave us one of the best songs from the Barbie soundtrack with “What I Was Made For”, and Troye Sivan loves it as much as the rest of us. The Australian singer delivered an emotional cover of this song during his recent performance at the BBC Radio 1 Live Lounge.

Sivan is currently busy promoting his upcoming third studio album Something to Give Each Other, set to hit the shelves next week. This album already produced two singles—“Rush” and “Got Me Started”—the first of which Sivan performed during his BBC Radio 1 Live Lounge stop.

It became somewhat of a tradition for artists to deliver covers of songs of their choice while performing at the BBC Radio 1 Live Lounge, and Sivan welcomed this trend with open arms. He opted for Billie Eilish’s “What I Was Made For, one of the singles from Barbie: The Album, which previously topped the charts in the UK.

Sivan is gearing up for the release of his upcoming LP Something to Give Each Other, which he described as a “celebration of s-x, dance, sweat, community, queerness, love and friendship.” His third studio album will be released on October 13 via Capitol Records, and it’s expected to feature a total of 10 tracks.

Billy Joel gave us one of his most iconic songs with “We Didn’t Start the Fire”, and Fall Out Boy decided to put their own spin on it. The pop-rock band shared an updated cover of the iconic track, which covers newsworthy events that took place since the song’s release over three decades ago.

“We Didn’t Start the Fire” originally came out in 1989, and covered major news events that took place from 1949, the year of Billy Joel’s birth. 34 years passed since then, and Fall Out Boy felt it was finally time to release a new version that hits closer to home for modern audiences.

“All these important people and events – some that disappeared into the sands of time- others that changed the world forever. So much has happened in the span of the last 34 years- we felt like a little system update might be fun. Hope you like our take on it…” said FOB bassist Pete Wentz in a statement.

In addition to referencing many historical events that shaped the past three decades, Fall Out Boy’s new version is filled with countless pop culture references. They named dropped many music stars, including Taylor Swift and Kanye West, addressed the passing of Kurt Cobain, Michael Jackson, and Prince, and claimed that “YouTube killed MTV”.
