Even though the style emerged in the late 70s, it wasn’t until the late 80s and the beginning of the 90s that rap became one of the most popular musical genres ever, producing timeless hits that inspire the music industry to this day.

Modern rap artists often use the distinctive 90s vibe in their songs or music videos, and rap fans, in general, bear nostalgic feelings for the era.

The story of rap begins in the ’70s, when DJ Kool Herc, who was also hip hop’s first DJ, started simple freestyle rapping at his home parties. Completely different than anything created before, the genre really took off in the ’90s in New York City, sweeping the music scene with its unique authenticity and successfully connecting old and new musical concepts in a way that hadn’t been heard before.

Here are the best rap tracks from the genre’s golden age.

10. It was a good day – Ice Cube

09. Gangsta’s Paradise – Coolio

08. Gin & Juice – Snoop Dogg

07. C.R.E.A.M – Wu-Tang Clan

06. The world is yours – Nas

05. Mind playing tricks on me – Geto Boys

04. Nuthin’ But a G Thang – Dr.Dre

03. My name is – Eminem

02. Juicy – Notorious BIG

01. California Love – Tupac ft. Dr.Dre

One of the most prominent names on the US heavy metal scene was the legendary singer, songwriter and composer Ronnie James Dio.

Being one of the most prolific authors in his genre, it is fair to say that he had a cult-like fan base that adored him and surely lost a great hero after his death in 2010.

But this year his fans were granted a unique and unbelievable opportunity that sparked a lot of mixed opinions, but eventually was greeted with great enthusiasm.

The great singer appeared on stage once again during the hologram tour that started this May and ended June 29th, closing in Las Vegas. The stunning hologram surprised fans everywhere and reminded them of the good old times at Dio’s concerts.

The show lasted 90 minutes and the hologram of Ronnie James Dio was accompanied by a live band, which consisted of the former Dio members Simon Wright, Scott Warren and Craig Goldie.

During the show there were also appearances by the Lynch Mob vocalist Oni Logan and also the singer from Judas Priest, Tim ‘Ripper’ Owens, which made the show even more spectacular.

The event also makes you think if we are going to be able to listen our favorite singers at concerts in the future even when such a thing is not physically possible?

Spice Girls are definitely one of the most recognized names in music history, and there is a good reason for that – they are the best-selling female group of all time, and they were also the most famous British pop band since the Beatles.

Earlier this month, the group played a magnificent concert at Wembley Stadium in London, 25 years after they formed.

https://www.instagram.com/p/BywGuLrnWdz/

The concert was one of the three that were scheduled for the Spice Girls World Tour 2019.

The stadium was full with more than eighty thousand devoted fans that were thrilled by their favorite band’s performance.

The band opened the show with their trademark song “Spice Up Your Life” to the screams of the overjoyed fans.

The concert was very energetic and enchanting, with the Spice Girls Mel B, Mel C, Geri and Emma (Victoria has decided to sit out this tour) singing and dancing dressed in outfits that were made like the ones they wore on stage during the 90s.

They provided an unforgettable experience performing many of their best songs, like “Holler” and “Stop Right Now,” filling the stadium with positive energy that spread through the air. They closed the event with the No.1 hit from 1996 “Wannabe.”

Usually, when we think about the NBA, we instantly think of the United States of America, but last week, the Canadian city of Toronto finally made history. The Toronto Raptors fought an impressive victory over the Golden State Warriors in Game 6 of the NBA finals and became the first team outside of the U.S. that has won a title in the history of this championship.

If you live on this planet, you know that the Canadian rapper Drake is one of their biggest fans and is practically the team’s ambassador. He even built them a new facility to train in.

Now, he surprised his fans even more with two new track that he released to honor the winning of the Larry O’Brien Trophy for the first time in an EP he called The Best in The World Pack.

The first song he released is called “Omerta” and the second one is called  “Money in the Grave”. Maybe because he released the songs very quickly after the victory the first track sounds somewhat unfinished. For the second song he teamed up with Rick Ross and they made some points about their legacy. The beat was produced by Lil CC.

Remember the 90s? Regardless of whether you were around during that period or not, you probably know that those years were a pretty unusual time to be alive.

It was a period of history so distinctive and fascinating that is incomparable to any other before or after, and a turbulent ride that continues to inspire modern culture today.

The decade saw the rise of many new styles and a great evolution of the styles that dominated in the late 80s, making it one of the most musically fertile periods so far.

In the early 90s, grunge was sweeping the music scene, with bands like Pearl Jam and Nirvana entering the mainstream with their raw, unpolished charm, but later into the decade, alternative rock took the lead.

But the 90s weren’t only the golden years of alt-rock (which is celebrated on our list today) – they also gave us some of the greatest artists in rap music ever. Starting with Dr. Dre’s The Chronic in 1992, rap music’s popularity skyrocketed, giving birth to remarkable rap artists like Tupac Shakur, Dr. Dre, Notorious BIG and many more.

In case you need a reminder, here’s out 10 favorite rock albums of the decade.

Nevermind – Nirvana (1991)

Ten – Pearl Jam (1991)

In Utero – Nirvana (1993)

The young Swedish singer Tove Lo – rightfully dubbed as ‘Sweden’s darkest pop export’ by Rolling Stone magazine – dropped the first single from her forthcoming album that will be named Sunshine Kitty and will be released by Island Records.

The new bold, empowering song Glad He’s Gone was released last Friday and it amazed her global fan base. Co-produced by Shellback and Struts, the song has a real potential to become a summer hit with its catchy sound and memorable lyrics, backed up by an addictive rhythm.

The music video starts with a cartoon featuring a lynx which the singer says is an extension of herself because Lo means lynx in Swedish. As she explains, the lynx in the video is “super cute” but does silly stuff like “getting in fights and getting f***ed up”, which is how she perceives her new album.

In a press release, she said that we have all been on both sides of a breakup pep talk with our friends and that we all know how good it feels to get your partner in crime back when they finally leave that idiot behind.

Blood Sugar Sex Magik – Red Hot Chili Peppers (1991)

Metallica – Metallica (1991)

OK Computer – Radiohead (1997)

Dookie – Green Day (1994)

Superunknown – Soundgarden (1994)

Siamese Dream – The Smashing Pumpkins (1993)

Dirt – Alice in Chains (1992)
