“’100-99’ was something I’ve wanted to do for some time – work with a rapper over a beat and guitar part I wrote – and it’s really exciting that I was able to do it with GoldLink,” said Hammond in a statement.
Melodies On Hiatus will see Hammond joined by a number of other high-profile collaborators besides GoldLink. He co-wrote the 19-song album with Canadian songwriter Simon Wilcox while the list of musical guests includes Billy Idol’s guitarist Steve Stevens, Arctic Monkeys‘ drummer Matt Helders, and singer Rainey Qualley aka Rainsford.
Albert Hammond Jr’s most recent solo studio album came in 2018 when he presented Francis Trouble. It received favorable reviews from the critics and peaked at No. 25 on the US Independent Albums chart. Hammond previously also released a critically-acclaimed record The New Abnormal with The Strokes.

]]>American rockers played charity show benefiting the homeless at Los Angeles’ The Wiltern on Monday night and slipped a brand new track, supposedly titled “The Adults Are Talking,” into the setlist. While there is no official recording of the song available, several fan-made videos emerged on the internet.
Most of the videos are bad in quality, but the first impression is that the song has all the marks of The Strokes’ classic. Watch one of the clips below.
The Strokes’ latest full-length album came in 2013 when they released Comedown Machine. The band decided not to promote the album at all and withheld from interviews, television appearances, and tours. Three years later, they followed up with four-track EP Future Present Past. It remains to be seen whether a new album is in store following the debut of the new song.
After taking two years hiatus from performing live, The Strokes will be quite active in 2019 and are scheduled to appear on several festivals in Europe, the UK, and the United States. This includes sets at New York’s The Governors Ball Music Festival 2019 and Lollapalooza 2019 in Chicago.
