]]>The Raconteurs is the side project of multi-instrumentalist and frontman, Jack White. Speaking on a podcast from Third Man Records, Benson shared what it was like meeting Jack White for the first time. It was the late 1990s and when Benson was introduced to White, he was less than impressed.
“We were standing in a room and I was showing him all my stuff, you know, I was kind of showing off all my crap — guitars and amps,” Benson said. “He was smoking a cigarette and he looked around — for an ashtray, I guess, now — but he didn’t find one, so he kind of ashed on the table. I was just like… shocked.”
Benson also shared that White was a fussy eater at the time and managed to enter adulthood without ever trying a tomato.
He recalled: “I think he was picky… Because at the time, I think he wasn’t very health-conscious … I think he had his first tomato at my house.”
