Although Johnston wasn’t popular in the mainstream circles, he managed to gain a cult following on the alternative music scene during his career. He released 20 albums, with most of them being recorded in his improvised home studio. His most recent record was Space Ducks, which came out in 2012.

The news about the record surfaced when management company Worlds End confirmed that producer Peter Katis, band’s longtime collaborator, finished mixing The National’s upcoming album.
The band’s last studio effort came in 2017, when they presented critically acclaimed Sleep Well Beast. The record topped the charts in UK and several other countries while peaking at No.2 on US Billboard 200. It also received several accolades including the Grammy Award for Best Alternative Music Album.

Boxer (Live in Brussels) was recorded in Belgium’s capital on November 9th, 2017, and saw the band playing their 2007 release Boxer in full.
The National released their most recent studio album, Sleep Well Beast, in September 2017. The album was an absolute hit with the critics and also managed to win a Grammy Award for Best Alternative Music Album at the 60th Grammy Awards. It topped the charts in several countries, including the UK, while reaching number 2 on the US Billboard 200.
