]]>The Black Crowes are celebrating their 40th anniversary this year, and Chris and Rich Robinson found a perfect way to mark the occasion. They officially announced the release of Happiness Bastards, their first studio album in 15 years, set to be released on March 15, and promoted it with the new single “Wanting and Waiting”.
Chris Robinson described this album as their love letter to rock and roll. He said this album represents the harmony he and Rich found together, and his brother echoed his words.
“This album is a continuation of our story as a band. Our years of experience writing and making music and touring the world are represented in this record, and we were brilliantly guided by one of the best producers in the business, Jay Joyce,” said Rich Robinson in a press release.
This marks the band’s first studio album of new material since Before the Frost…Until the Freeze in 2009. They went on hiatus in 2015 and announced they’re reuniting in late 2019, after Chris and Rich Robinson managed to resolve their differences.

]]>Variety reported that the band is getting back together for a reunion tour in 2020. They will be playing their Shake Your Money Maker album as well as their greatest hits in the New York area beginning in July.
The news was announced in Penn Station via an advertisement.
It has not yet been revealed which Crowes members will be involved in the tour, but it’s been speculated that brothers Cris and Rich Robinson will be the ones returning.
Drummer Steve Gorman has said in interviews that he knows the band is reuniting, but he hasn’t been invited.
The band’s last performance was in 2013 and they separated in 2015.
More information on the band’s reunion will be reported as it becomes known.

]]>“I kind of feel like it’s in the Kinks realm where it’s just done,” said Rich to Rolling Stone. “I’m really happy not to play with him. I don’t think it’s healthy for anyone to be around that. If he’s truly happy playing CRB [Chris Robinson Brotherhood] songs and that it’s silly to play Black Crowes songs until he’s ready to do it, then it’s great. So be it.”
The Black Crowes sold more than 30 million records during their time together and were regarded as one of the best hard rock bands in the ’90s. However, despite the success of the band, Rich and Chris had troubles staying in a good relationship over the years. After a couple of hiatuses, they officially announced their breakup in 2015, with Rich saying that his brother wanted to change the group’s profit-sharing agreement.
After that, Rich Robinson formed The Magpie Salute with former Black Crowes members Marc Ford and Sven Pipien. The band embarked on a successful tour on which they were playing Black Crowes songs as a well as material from their solo careers.
Chris Robinson, on the other hand, continued to work on his side project Chris Robinson Brotherhood, while refusing to play Black Crowes songs during live appearances. He changed his mind since and is currently preparing a new project, As the Crow Flies, which will see him playing his original band’s material on tour.
