]]>With 59.1 million radio airplay audience impressions, 23.2 million streams, and 8,000 sold downloads, “Lose Control” finally managed to rise to the top. It ascended to No. 1 during its 32nd week on the Hot 100 chart, setting a new record for the longest run to No. 1 by weeks on the chart for a male solo artist.
Swims released several versions and remixes of “Lose Control” that eventually helped it climb to the top. Its recent success can be credited to a Tiësto remix, released on March 19, and a radio edit, released on March 21.
“Lose Control” was released as the second single from Swims’ debut album I’ve Tried Everything but Therapy (Part 1), and he described it as a song about the addictive power of love.
“It’s about losing yourself and losing control when it all starts to cave in and thinking that the only way out is through being with that person, chasing that feeling over and over again,” he said in a statement accompanying the song’s release last summer.

]]>“Lose Control” initially debuted at No. 99 when it was first released, as the second single from Swims’ debut studio album I’ve Tried Everything but Therapy (Part 1). It’s been months since its release last summer, but this song finally managed to enter the top ten this week.
“Lose Control” peaked at No. 8 with 24.5 million radio audience impressions, 16.3 million streams, and 6,000 downloads. In addition to reaching a new peak on the Hot 100 chart, this song also hit No. 2 on the Adult Alternative Airplay chart.
“Lose Control” had a slow climb to the top ten, but Swims’ manager Luke Conway never lost hope it would eventually become a hit.
“It’s his story. This is the golden egg we’ve been searching for and fighting to dig out of the ground for five years. There have been a lot of conversations about finding a feature, but we see the lifespan of this song. We can’t dilute it by giving it anybody else’s identity,” Conway told Billboard last year.
