Sigrid will head to the studio after she spent the majority of 2019 touring. She served as an opening act for Maroon 5 during their summer tour in Europe, while also supporting George Ezra at his UK shows. The “Strangers” singer also had a number of headlining shows in late 2019, touring North America and Europe. Her next live dates are scheduled for June.

Sigrid released Sucker Punch in March 2019 and was met with widespread acclaim, with critics calling the record “compact, concise display of pop ambition.” The album topped the charts in her native Norway while reaching No.4 on UK Charts and No.3 at Billboard’s US Heatseekers Albums list.

Sigrid revealed the news on her social media, posting an accompanying video in which she provided further insights into the record.

“I’ve been working on it for so long with some really talented people,” she said in the video. “I’m listening to it all the time and I’m really excited for you to listen to it too.”

Just by hearing the opening beats of the songs, you’ll realize that “Sucker Punch” is a lot different than most of her other efforts. Sigrid brushes off the moodiness and instead keeps the uplifting atmosphere and adventurous spirit from start to the end of the track.

After playful two verses, the chorus kicks in and gets you hooked immediately. Simple, powerful and “punchy,” it delivers some of the song’s best moments. No matter how high the volume is, you’ll want it to get a bit higher to feel the contagious energy in Sigrid’s voice.

“Sucker Punch” seems like it is destined to be her next hit, and rightfully so. While production does sound a bit generic and too similar to the modern pop sound, which is something Sigrid has managed to avoid so far, it still isn’t overwhelming to a point where this would bother you.

Those who love Sigrid’s slow ballads, or have met her trough cover of Leonard Cohen’s “Everybody Knows,” might have a hard time adjusting to this energetic version of her. But if you give it a chance, you definitely won’t regret.
