]]>The Grammy winner Smith, DJs Martin Garrix and Fred Again, and the British rapper Stormzy will be in charge of headlining Sziget next year—and they’ll be in pretty good company. Four Tet, Fontaines D.C., Louis Tomlinson, and Big Thief also made it to the first round of the Sziget 2024 performers.
Festival’s CEO Tamás Kádár said they’ve received a lot of positive feedback from the festival goers this year after improving their lineup, and added there’s already a huge interest for the 2024 festival.
“This announcement, which is only the first “package” for now, shows that next year Sziget will also feature big world stars, current artists, and newly discovered musical specialties, so that everyone will be offered a strong and exciting selection of music, regardless of genre,” said Kádár in a statement.
The Sziget Festival will return to Óbuda Island in Budapest, Hungary between August 7 and 12, 2024, and the early bird tickets are already on sale.

]]>This week has been pretty slow in terms of new releases because most of our favorite stars took a break to celebrate Thanksgiving with their loved ones. That didn’t stop our favorite artists outside of the United States from dropping new music and giving us some amazing new songs in the process.
This has been an amazing week for female collaborations, and two of the best songs from our list fall under that category. Kali Uchis and Karol G knocked it out of the park with their new collaboration “Labios Mordidos”, while Björk and Rosalía seamlessly blended their unique artistic styles on their new duet “Oral”.
Speaking of great collaborations to make it to our list, Jacob Collier’s new song “Witness Me” is also worth listening to and features contributions from Shawn Mendes, Stormzy, and Kirk Franklin.
It’s also been a great week for alternative artists, with Winona Oak, The Japanese House, and Sam Fischer managing to beat tough competition and make it to our list of the best new songs of the week.

The K-pop girl band NewJeans teased their new EP Get Up with the release “Cool With You”, while the highly-anticipated Barbie: The Album gave us countless amazing new tracks, including Sam Smith’s “Man I Am”.
Zayn made a highly-anticipated comeback with “Love Like This”, but he wasn’t the only one building hype for his next album. Travis Scott knocked it out of the park with his new single “K-Pop” and brought Bad Bunny and The Weeknd on board.
This is only one of several A-list collaborations that made it to our list this week. Stormzy and Raye proved they’re a match made in heaven with “The Weekend”, will.i.am & Britney Spears gave us nostalgia overload with “Mind Your Business”, while Diplo partnered up with Jessie Murph & Polo G on his new song “Heartbroken”.

Out of the three, Rauw Alejandro’s Saturno seems to be making the most buzz, and he promoted its release by dropping a music video for “Lejos del Cielo”.
Taylor Swift and Rihanna are two artists everyone’s been talking about recently, and if you think we’re going to stop – think again! Rihanna dropped another song from the Black Panther: Wakanda Forever soundtrack called “Born Again”, while Swift shared several remixes of her latest single “Anti-Hero”, including one with Jack Antonoff’s Bleachers.

]]>The post Stormzy’s “Heavy Is The Head” is Brilliant appeared first on Hot Pop Today.
]]>When it comes to Stormzy, his music and political activism are inseparable. His Glastonbury set peaked with the crowd and he has since established a scholarship fund for black students at Cambridge University. Stormzy has become a champion for minority voices and this is the overriding theme of his new album. The voice that runs through is one that will no longer tolerate the marginalization of black artists in the UK. In “Superheroes,” Stormzy celebrates the success of his peers, championing underrepresented voices.
Elsewhere in the album, Stormzy challenges his newfound status as the voice of young black men. “Crown” references the album’s title “Heavy Is The Head” and Stormzy counts his blessings but expresses the burden of leading a generation. He refers to his activism at the BRITS: “You can’t hold me down, I still cope / Rain falling down at the BRIT’s, I’m still soaked.” In “Audacity”, he wonders “How the hell did I buss so fast?” questioning whether he is comfortable with being idolized by so many.
Throughout the album, Stormzy makes references to his career highlights, frequently referring back to his set at Glastonbury. As well as shining a light on UK society, he turns the light in on himself. What is arguably most remarkable about the record is that the album is genuinely enjoyable to listen to. There are witty, fun moments and while Stormzy raises some deadly earnest political points, he also doesn’t take himself entirely seriously. The album is not about Stormzy and his crown. It is a reminder that he is part of something bigger. Again, Stormzy pays homage to the artists that have come before him and those around him doing great things.
Overall, Heavy Is The Head is a lyrically brilliant, stylistically impressive, bold and daring record. It never gets dull and Stormzy fires shots from all angles. This is an album from a man on the verge of something heroic. And we are hooked.

Cover art for this album shows the British rapper holding the bulletproof Union Jack vest designed by Banksy, which he wore during his set at the Glastonbury Festival this year.
Stormzy recently discussed his performance with Q Magazine and admitted he was heartbroken after it. His in-ear sound monitors stopped working 20 minutes into his show, and he thought things went horribly wrong before re-watching his performance.
“It was the most difficult thing I’ve ever done. I thought it was the worst thing I’d ever done. I came off stage and thought I’d totally, absolutely blown it. I was crying for, like, an hour. I was in hysterics,” Brit-winning artist told Q Magazine.
